2021/22 Frank Lampard

Benitez was a crap kopite has been, who get us into this mess in the first place.

However i thought Lampard, would have won more than two league games by now tbh.

Three wins in the league since late September 2021, and we are starting to run out of games now.

I wanted him from all the names we were linked with.

If Everton are relegated, I don't think it will be with Lampard as manager. They'd sack him/go for anyone for short term uplift to get us over the line. A Ferguson or Allardyce type appointment.

Panic will set in the second we go into the bottom 3 - and Moshiri will act.

I don't think Lampard will be sacked because I think we'll stay up but if we lost the next 3, so 9 defeats in 12, I reckon they'd bin him.

Moshiri give Koeman a fortune and then sacked him 9 games into a new season after the season before be qualified for Europe...

I wonder if a defeat against Burnley could cause a panic.

This is not a few weeks back, when fixtures were a bit ropey and we had games in hand etc.

We have had quite a few games now, and in many ways been fortunate Burnley and Watford havent picked up points.

I wonder if in the background they have sounded someone out.

People predicted Lampard's Everton would be defensively vulnerable because he hasn't got a clue how to organise a defence. The 54 League goals Chelsea conceded under Lampard in 19-20 was their worst since 96-97. Chelsea under Abramovich have averaged low thirties per season in goals conceded.

I mean, their Xg was about 38 and but they had Kepa in goal. I'm not sure how much was Lampard and how much was Kepa.

He's learning valuable lessons. He's inexperienced and on his way to be a deadly manager he has to make mistakes.

I was delighted he made Keane captain. Cause I knew it was a bad idea and couldn't wait for Frank to learn that. Great we got Frank in for this relegation battle.

Should he really be learning these basic lessons at the absolute sharpest end of English football though? There's no doubt he got the Derby, Chelsea and our job based on his hype from his playing career, the same as Gerrard did at Rangers.

I don't think either of them will end up being great managers, but will probably keep getting jobs based on their reputation in the game. They both look miles away from the likes of Potter, or even Swansea's version of Rodgers.

But he's still going to keep us up.

Soz mate was being darkly sarco.

The transfer ban is a terrible excuse. Chelsea got it pushed back a year and then spent £220m on the likes of Kepa, Pulisic, Jorginho and Kovacic. They then spent another £220m the season after the transfer ban.

Chelsea had one of the best squads in Europe. Yes he did play the kids but that was his choice. He dropped the likes of Azpilecueta, Alonso, Rudiger, Jorginho, Pedro and Giroud to play them.
He lost Hazard 55% of Chelsea’s goals the year before, he made a 100mil on that transfer window.

Even when they brought in Mendy, Lampard's Chelsea were still conceding more goals than they should have. Their biggest problem was conceding goals centrally in between Zouma and James. Playing Zouma ahead of Rudiger is just baffling and shows a lack of judgement.

The other problem Chelsea had under Lampard was defensive errors leading directly to goals. Under Sarri, Jorginho was averaging way over a 100 touches per game. When Lampard took over the onus to recycle the ball was shifted to the centre backs.

He has continued that at Everton with pretty disastrous results. Keane is now averaging the 2nd most touches per game, behind only Doucoure. That means two things essentially we are giving the opposition far too many chances to press and win the ball high up the pitch. The other is that our build up play is pedestrian.

That means we are terrible on the transitions. We give the opposition loads of chances to hurt us when we turn over the ball but allow teams an age to regroup with far too many lateral passes.

Has to be said he is doing a terrible job, worse then Rafael, worse then Sam, let's hope he sorts it soon, starting Rondon on Wednesday would be the first step in the right direction.
Dropping him after he scored that cup brace was madness.

Irrespective of what happens we need to keep a manager and stop chopping and changing. I’m hopeful the review of the Club that saw Frank and the new DoF brought in has convinced Moshiri we need to back them and resist knee-jerk decisions. We desperately need some continuity at the Club.
Cement 17th place, wipe the season from memory and crack on.

That is misleading though they sold Hazard for £72m but had already bought Pulisic for £57m and loaned him back to Dortmund. Over the three seasons 18/19, 19/20 and 20/21 Chelsea spent £440m.
