Wasn’t he the only manager in a transfer ban playing kids since Ambramovic came in also.
They were hardly short of £50m-£100m players that season, despite the ban. Probably had more resources available to him that season than any other club in the league, regardless of the embargo. Rudiger, Alonso, Jorginho, Kante, Abraham, Willian, Zouma, Caballero, Giroud, Pulisic, etc. Hardly getting by with the U23s.

Regardless, the following season he ditched the kids he had been playing and spent £££££££ signing Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Édouard Mendy and yet somehow managed to win only 2 out of 8 games running up to his sacking in January.

His time at Chelsea was a shocking failure by their standards, given what he had to work with and the money at his disposal. Surprised he got another job off the back of it, you'd have thought he'd be done and back to being a tedious pundit. But no. Everton. Sigh.

Wasn't keen on getting him at the start but we didn't have many options. The squad is the issue but lampard is worrying me, he doesn't really know what to do.

The transfer ban is a terrible excuse. Chelsea got it pushed back a year and then spent £220m on the likes of Kepa, Pulisic, Jorginho and Kovacic. They then spent another £220m the season after the transfer ban.

Chelsea had one of the best squads in Europe. Yes he did play the kids but that was his choice. He dropped the likes of Azpilecueta, Alonso, Rudiger, Jorginho, Pedro and Giroud to play them.

It's as simple as that mate.

But to my mind the effort is there. It's not about getting Goodison up for it either: they will be.

WTF would be the point of appointing him again?

A win settles this right down: when we beat Leeds it felt that way; then when we beat Newcastle it felt that way.

If we beat those pie munching troglodytes up there on Wednesday the panic will be over again....for a bit.

I think this will be our pattern...and I think it'll be touch and go to the 38th game.
As someone who frequently disagrees with you , I completely concur with this post once we get another win the anxiety will subside to certain degree but there's going uneasiness throughout the season along with our erratic play but i think it will be enough to evade relegation.

I mean yes and no.

Hes the only Chelsea manager who did not have heavy investment. And he did well that 1st season all things considered.

He was poor 2nd season though with huge investment, and probably showed why hes not currently at the top level.

I can’t see Lampard getting jibbed even if he takes them down as he’s had Championship experience. If they did jib him then you’ve got Duncan Ferguson trying to rescue Everton from relegation.

The only alternative I can see, is if someone like an Allardyce has basically been lined up.

Logically I'd rule it out. But the board/owner dont behave logically.
