Sheffield United sacked Wilder and hired Heckingbottom before the end of their relegation season. He didn't make a difference to them getting relegated, but he got them organised and stable and back in the playoff positions this season with a chance of going back up. Perhaps we should start planning for next season rather than deluding ourselves that (a) Frank can turn it around; (b) that he would want to stay and manage us if we went down; and (c) if he did he would do anywhere near a good job.
That is a mental suggestion.
