He'd have been gone. No question.

The performances in the last 3 games have been acceptable (apart from the collapses after scoring). So it would have been a shame. But this is a cut throat business and I dont think he's nailed on to see out the season even now. It's up to him and his players. Goodison (as predicted) did its job.

He's got them working their bollocks off at least. To get that energy level from a team on their 3rd game in less than 7 days at this time of the season is exceptional.
I agree with a large part of this, but getting the lads up for a home game against United should have been no challenge at all. We raise our game when the big boys come to town. Test is can we go do it for the next few games against "lesser" teams, or will we revert to type.

4 wins or 3 wins and 3 draws.

40 points bare minimum because its nit just about staying up it's about showing some standards at the end and nit just scraping through because others are crap.

40/41 points
Nah, no way in this season are you going to need +40 points. Norwich are gone, Watford 99% so for me, it's us or Burnley.

37 keeps us up, would lean towards 'probably' for 36.

how? leeds have won now how many on the trot

newcastle won a lot to and stuttered but won last night

both have done enough

i would hope we can do that to
I think he means us after the Leeds and Newcastle wins, we lost the next game after both.

He isn’t referring to their form.

...also, after the Newcastle game when we had momentum there was the international break...and we have a break again now.

Lampard needs to be onto that.

sure does. the break could be the worst thing possible. surely after a performance and result like that you'd want to get right back out on the pitch and play Leics tomorrow if you could.

Defo in the next seven days anyway...the team will be very tired and probably want a break, but mentally they have to be right at this.

let's hope they've got all eyes on Burnley result and how close they get to us, and not carried away with throwing a party because we beat the 7th placed team in 1 game out of 38.

I know we don't need +40 points to stay up mate, I'm saying thats the bare minimum expected for professional pride to claw some kind of self respect back for the season.

I hear ya, but we all know, if these players who've been called crooks, conmen, and cowards all season get to 35-38 points / mathematical saftey they'll be carried off the pitch like heroes and all-n-any questions over professional pride will be gone, all will be forgiven, and we'll all be talking about next season and our chances at gate crashing the top 8.
