2021/22 Frank Lampard

My only issue today is why he didn’t try and do anything about the right side after 60 mins. Gordon was goosed and was not helping Coleman and Man Utd kept attacking down our right side and getting in behind. Lucky their end product was crap. They even had Harry maguire on the edge of our box taking shots at goal at one point. Needed to take Gordon off and bring on gray sooner and maybe bring on docoure earlier as well to help that midfield from getting overrun.
It's a difficult one...because Gordon was dangerous in counter attack...and I feel that we needed a second goal...thankfully it was enough

Watford? A side who, quite frankly, no pun intended, are as likely to stay up as we are? A club with a better manager than us? We're in no position to condescend to them.

You can blame players for making repeated mistakes - but who's picking them? Any idiot knows you cannot rely on the Holgates, Iwobis, and Godfreys. You might be forced to play one of them - or two at a stretch - but Frank plays all of them and adds in the likes of Kenny and Keane at a regular rate.

He can't organise a defence - and his strikers can't score. He has no midfield to speak of. He signed a Care in the Community case in Ali and the invisible man from Man United. These were his marquee signings. I see no improvement under Frank. And zero hope.

ANYBODY but Lampard improves our chances, remote as they are.
How’s Woy and Watford getting on mate. Think that’s 9 defeats at home on the bounce. ?

There is no coincidence that our two best defensive performances under Lampard have been against City and United. In both games, we have played far more pragmatically. Kept our shape and had players backing each other up.

That is how it should be for the rest of the season. Prioritise clean sheets and look to take our chances when they come along.

It's not unusual for us to raise our game at home when the Big Boys come to town though - we've done it a few times in recent years. The question is can we play with that level of intestity and focus and determination against Palace and Brentford and Watford, or will we look like 11 strangers who can't kick a ball, collapse, and get spanked for the 983632th time this year?

Hopefully positive signs, but it very much remains to be seen.......

Them games are going to be a lot bigger so don’t understand your logic here mate

If we lost today and the next one. I wouldn't know what to think giving what's at stake.

Now we can give him a chance to see if he's a manager.

My point is that everyone seems to raise their game by 10-20% when the likes of City or United come to town and GP is rocking because it's always seen as "big game against big team for potential big scalp", say instead of a generic game versus Palace or or Burnley or Spurs or West Ham where we look like a shadow of the team today.

I never had any concerns the whole team would be at it today (not saying I thought it was a nailed-on win), my concern is whether or not we take that into the Leics game and Palace and Watford etc because we've been here before: celebrate a win, the crooks-n-cowards are suddenly heroes, then we collapse again the next week. Can we now follow one great performance with another, because we haven't been able to do that for a long time.
