I walked out the ground thinking this is why I’ve loved the club for so long. It just felt like the old Everton today, at no time did I feel anything other than comfortable win.

I'm glad I never backed the kopite mess. Because in one game, we have scored more goals than in any of the kopites games in charge. And that was down to management, tactics and style which the players appreciate and can buy into.

I thought he was just going for a ‘I’m not going to pretend I’ve always been an Everton fan but I really do appreciate how good the club is’ kind of vibe personally. Nobody really cares that he’s a Tory.
