What's Frank's results record exactly at Everton? Just curious. He took over a complete and utter shambles of a football club from top to bottom, no doubt a bigger basket case than he could have imagined, or has seen, in world football.

Question: do you think if the fans had gotten behind Benitez the way they have Lamaprd we'd have been in this mess?

Not a chance. The players would have responded a lot better than they did for a manager hounded by the fans.
I don't think it's quite as simple as that.

On the one hand, a better atmosphere has to be more conducive to good results, so I'll grant you that to a degree, but the fans have only really come together in the last few weeks when we've all realised that this really could be it. I'm not sure it's entirely down to Lampard, although he's much easier to warm to than Benitez, so perhaps there's an element of it.

On the other hand, I saw no variation in tactical approach from Benitez at all. There was nothing that said to me we were seeing him trying things to stop the rot. Lampard, to his credit, has constantly looked for a winning formula in terms of systems and styles. I've at least felt that he's been proactive in searching for a way of playing that would get us better results.

Then there's the fact that Benitez seems to simply be a fairly unpleasant guy who has a long history of falling out with people, so you have to ask yourself whether the players would have been able to get themselves up to the levels we've seen in the last few games if he was still here.

I don't think it's anything like as simple as saying if the fans had backed Benitez the way Lampard has been supported then everything would be sound. You don't preside over the worst run in our entire history just because the fans don't like you. We don't have *that* much influence

I would just like to point out that people can blame fans as much as they like but it was Benitez himself who almost destroyed the club and that is because he was hired by a clueless idiot and was absolutely abysmal. Even if he had the support that Frank has got he would have still been abysmal and that is because he was Benitez, an obnoxious arrogant kopite dinosaur on a mission to destroy Everton Football club.

Frank spent the first 3 months of his tenure trying to repair the damage that moron inflicted on the club and is a 100 times better than him in every aspect.

We were on a run of 2 league wins in 11 when Silva left

We were, and I could hardly disagree with the decision to sack him, but of all of the managers we've had since Moyes, he's the only one I think might have worked out if things had gone differently with the transfers in that summer before he left and if injuries hadn't hampered him so much.

Had to be sacked, I just felt he was unfortunate rather than incompetent. I'll follow Fulham's progress with interest next season

...they think they can cover their tracks now it's all turning out ok again.

Absolutley no chance of that happening.

While I understand the sentiment that was going on the fact is his tenure was only going to have two conclusions and both were essentially good, just for different reasons. Letting him screw it up himself was the best option, we didn't want to give him an easy "out"...as I think you've been alluding to this whole time as it regards others' behavio(u)r.

His chimp-on-a-leash, Balague, was all over it...saw it coming and laid the groundwork with those early interviews.

Stay vicious.
