2021/22 Frank Lampard

Despite our difference of opinion in their motives for their form, we can at least agree that a sensible step forward would be to give a manager some time to get rid of these average players rather than firing a manager every time these players show poor form?
Well not just a manager but this manager, yes. As i've said before, I think we need to get away from the idea of 'these' players doing things. There has been a massive turnover in the squad, just pretending that the team we have now is the same team that was playing under Koeman does nobody any favours.

“It’s crazy. Some of the stuff you hear behind the scenes at Everton, I mentor a couple of players there so I’m hearing a lot of stuff.
“The effort that’s going in behind the scenes with the players, the management, the coaching staff, Frank Lampard, I mean if they get out of this situation, the togetherness that will be built through these type of moments when there’s a bit of downturn at the club, it could be the catalyst for a real good moment at the club if they get out of this situation.”

The core is similar though

Pickford Kenny Keane Coleman Davies Siggurdson Tosun Holgate DCL all here since 17/18

Delph Iwobi Mina Richarlison arrived the season after

A large core of these players have been here a long time. The majority of the players listed above with a few exceptions need to go

ME PERSONALLY?!

I would like to issue this personal apology to the supporters of Everton FC for the hardships caused due to my unjustified lack of support for our former manager, Mr R. Benitez.

I now see that his kind, giving nature was the reason he was giving opposition 3 points every game, and not his perceived lack of tactical nous. I understand fully that his omission of both J. Rodriguez and L. Digne was not pomposity nor arrrogance, but merely cost-saving, thrift - if you will.

His hard work in the face of adversity will live long in my heart, and will be recognised as a true Everton legend for decades to come.

I hereby start a petition to name our upcoming stadium 'The Rafael Benitez Stadium of Wonder'.

Again, my apologies.

Dean.

Magical penmanship

These players have done these miraculous turn arounds before. Under Allardyce, under Silva, under Carlo, even under Benitez at the start. Until I see more than half a season of sustained form from them I don’t trust them as far as I can throw them.

It’s in their interest to avoid relegation at the moment, to play well and survive the summer window. When it looked like Benitez had a few of their numbers with Digne leaving it became their interest to get rid of him, just as they did with Koeman and Silva. When the players see their contracts under threat, they get managers fired. That’s their MO.

Lampard therefore had a golden opportunity to swing the axe this summer but I would bet a lot of money that we’ll see stories of ‘Coleman is worth another season’ ‘Keane is ready to knuckle down under a new manager’ ‘Kenny is a blue, another extension is only logical’ ‘we don’t need a midfielder with Davies back to fitness’. Then when Lampard starts to realise he’s made a massive mistake and draws up plans for getting this lot out in January, they’ll turn as they did on all the other managers and have him out before the Jan window.

As a club we need to be brutal this summer. A few games of decent performance from these charlatans shouldn’t overturn the abysmal application they’ve shown over the last 18 months under Ancelotti, Benitez, and Lampard until a few weeks ago.

Spot on ;)

Pickford
Richarlison
Doucoure
Gordon
Mykolenko

The only five I hope we keep no matter what (possibly Patterson after a full pre season under his belt).

The rest can leave tomorrow for all I care and should as we need a rebuild.

Here's my list of who we should keep :

That doesn't mean I don't rate them, but I have no attachment to any of them.

I feel like we've had this conversation before but saying some of those players are a 'core' is just daft. Tosun and Sigurdsson have played about 10 minutes between them. Davies, DCL, Kenny and Delph have maybe started 25 games between the 4 of them? Richarlison and Pickford are unarguably 2 of our best players so including them is also a bit bizarre but for different reasons. In short, the performance levels of the majority of the players you're listing are not the reason we are where we are.

The squad clearly needs shaking up, nobody is going to argue with that. It's not because we have a terrible squad full of losers with bad mentalities or because they've been here a long time (crazy that 4 years is seen as some sort of long service when it's not even a full contract length for most of them), it's because it's not a squad short of real quality, and it hasn't been assembled with a coherent plan in mind so is badly unbalanced.. Hopefully we stay up and this summer start to put that sort of plan in place, so that players are coming in because they suit our needs rather than just because they're available and we feel like they might be better than what we have.

Like Leicester hopefully

Even though I disagree with most of this even your last point is one in support of keeping some managerial stability
