2021/22 Frank Lampard

That will all come when we are safe. Which could happen on Sunday, meaning lampard can be more adventurous in the final games. Risking a point by opening ourselves up would be foolish right now.

Make us hard to beat, hard to score against has to be the primary task, especially when our defence makes as many mistakes as they do.

But then the attackers need to have more composure at the same time for when they do get chances. Of which, there were numerous yesterday.

I do think he would have risked it more had mina even fit and not Keane on the pitch.
At the same time when you’ve got a player out on his feet doing next to nothing, like Gordon was last night, why not use a fresh man instead of playing with ten men, couldn’t Frank see that!!

Who though? Our bench is terrible and full of players we have screamed about not wanting on the pitch all season.

And there's clearly an issue with alli, in that it doesn't look like lampard trusts him at all.

Still not convinced by him to be honest .
Can't understand why we didn't have a really go at attacking them last night in the second half,
Gordon was shot as was Gray and Watford hadn't had a decent chance all game.
Should have put DLC on early and moved iwobi into midfield
Hope it dosnt come back to bite us on the arse.

The fact we’re close to PL safety now shows how good a job he’s done (and what an idiot Simon Jordan is)

This is one of the worst squads in the league with basically everything wrong with it. Injury ravaged, terrible mentality, just give up away from home and when we concede, like having managers fired, a league 1 standard back 4, strikers who can’t link up play and have little end product, terrible discipline problems in game, huge number of personal errors every match.

To come in and battle through all of that to a point where we’ve won key games to give us a chance at survival is a great achievement.

People seem to think there’s just a magic switch though and won’t even get out that mindset. As though a group of players that have been woeful for 18 months (and a lot of them much longer than that) will suddenly start performing consistently if the manager just opens up a bit or plays 443. We all know it’s not that simple yet it always seems to be the go to all the time.

Leeds just got absolutely battered by the same Chelsea team we beat at home last week. That could have easily been us if it wasn’t for Frank, in fact it looked like us previously with a ridiculous red card. Instead we’re the ones with safety in our control and Leeds are the ones in free fall. I’m sure Jesse Marsch says all the right hipster stuff and plays 433 and ‘goes for it’ but fortunately for Everton Lampard is the one out the two with a brain and some grasp on reality and how to get results.

I don't think you can really get any idea (good or bad) of how he'll perform in the long term from what's going on right now. We have a very singular focus at the moment, the only thing that matters is staying up, and if we manage to do that then he's done a good job in the short term. I don't think the style of play/subs/players used/general tactics at the moment really tell us anything at all about what will happen in the future because we're just desperately trying to pick up the points we need in any way we can.

Absolutely has to swap to 4-3-3 for the 2 home games. Amazed he played that last night as we beat United playing 4-3-3. It would be unacceptable to play 5 at the back to Brentford.

Think you're missing the point I originally made entirely.

Well I don’t know what your original point was but that post that I was replying to actually specifically suggested that keepers shouldn’t have to make good saves. Like Mendy hitting a pearler from 30 yards out of nowhere that’s heading for the top corner is somehow the fault of our defence.

Well I'll let you back into the original convo just so you don't carry on this tangent:

In fact - I'll praise Lampard - he's made us hard to beat - I'm sure he'd rather play expansive football and perhaps we will when we have more points to play for (and better centre-back / midfield options).

Errr just don’t know if I can agree there. I wouldn’t say we were hard to beat lately as most of our good results have required Pickford to enter the Matrix.

How can he be impressed by Gerrard?

This is why I stopped listening to talkSPORT, bellends like this giving over aggressive opinions one way or the other to wind people up.
I’m not giving them a click but from those two quotes:
‘Lampard has had a bit of fortune’
He’s got a crap team to beat Chelsea, United and Leicester driven by the way he set us up and his set ups against City and Liverpool were exceptional and deserved more “fortune” from the officials.
‘He wasn’t brought in to make things worse’
And he hasn’t. I cba to get the stats but I’m pretty sure we had 6 points from a possible 36 or something very similar under Benitez… we’ve just taken 7 of a possible 9 now that Frank’s had a bit of time with the squad.
