2022/23 Frank Lampard

Dyche would probably keep us up I agree.

I don't think Thomas Frank would come here, and if he was interested, Brentford would rightfully make it as awkward and expensive as possible. It would be the complete opposite of a quick, straightforward appointment.

If they do part ways with Lampard, they'll have to have the groundwork done in hiring a replacement. Even with a vote of confidence of sorts, you'd imagine that that work should probably be getting started, but this is Everton.
Problem I have with the Thomas Frank thing is that he is part of a long established and well run setup at Brentford. They have 2 DoF's one domestic, one based abroad who are constantly looking to supply players for a Franks team/system and they are twinned to a club in the Danish league so they can send players who have permit issues. Everything is there and setup for Thomas Frank to do well at Brentford whereas we are an utter basket case as most people know and I'm not sure if we would see the best from him.

As hard as it is, I feel now is the time to have some balls of steel and stick to allow a manager to get to his preferred players. It is now that we allow emotions to rule. We must look at the bigger picture.

Should we be doing better, absolutely. i didn't expect this semi collapse. Bad mistake in the cup has dented the relationship with the fans but we have to stick together, no matter who comes in, by now we must realise it is not an easy fix there's a bad smell around the club that keeps blanketing us, manager after manager same old same old.

Time to be brave and be like Arsenal have been with Arteta, they wanted him gone the fans but the board seen the bigger picture. We must do this, starting again doesn't guarantee anything.

The bigger picture for me is you can give him all the time in the world and it won't matter because his system is completely broken and he can't fix it without sacrificing all the attacking output the team might have. And then he also can't set up a passing system that gives you a chance to attack anyway. Big picture is I don't see how it gets better.

It gets better by sticking together, keeping the atmosphere positive and allowing a period of time for the new team to gel. And a forward who can score obviously, if you can't put the ball in the net, you'll struggle which is what we are finding. We also have wide players who simply don't assist or score anywhere near regular enough.

We should be doing better absolutely and I agree it isn't pretty but we can't keep going round in circles and ending up in the same position every season. Holding our nerve now could benefit long term, time for us to have some balls.

Gel into what?

It doesn't matter how long the team plays together if they manager tries to organize a press where the backline stands still and watches massive spaces open up in front of it you're going to be screwed.

And once again you prove that you really don't understand football if it isn't in numbers. New players will take time to gel when you have so many new recruits.

I agree that Lampard AND his coaching team need to get a grip of this lot before it's too late. The press is a shambles agreed I think the midfield set up is un balanced as well.

It's a tough one, he could have no complaints if he was sacked but I just think the issues are deeper.

Interesting the Ronaldo said younger players simply don't care or have enough hunger, there's something in that, I've been saying it for years. I'd say a whole generation are just greedy tossers who earn too much money when they have won diddly squat. Gone off on a tangent there sorry lol

We're using Ronaldo, like Cristiano Ronaldo, as proof players don't care enough? The guy who transparently only cares about himself? Yeah that's enough for me here.

This isn't a stats thing (although they are terrible!), this is a the team looks awful thing. The issues aren't time based, they're ability based and the manager doesn't have the ability.

Absolutely clueless, one of the most professional players ever, not good what he is doing now granted but he has been a model pro most of his career so yeah enough for you here, you don't understand football you really don't.

Please now make a complete list of all the managers who started badly and continued to be bad.

Also SAF finished second in his second season and won the FA Cup in his fourth. So is that really a good comparison?

Arteta immediately won a cup as well.

I would think that for most people, moving from a smaller company to a bigger one (and vice versa) or from a successful company to an unsuccessful one...or from one corporate culture to another with different expectations...

...it takes different levels of time.

You could look at the management and also all of the new signings bar Gana and come to the logical conclusion that things could take time.

Its illogical to think otherwise.

For someone who bases their football knowledge on numbers and statistics...logic.

You are not being logical.

Goodness me.

If theres one person you would look at in football as professional at the highest level of the sport that you would want as part of your squad it would be Ronaldo.

By a country mile...not Alex Iwobi.

Neither are you.

Logically when something starts badly, it continues to go badly, thats logical.

What you are doing is applying blind faith, this has no logic behind it.
