"The onus is on EFC to engage the crowd"

Meaning, it's up to the players to turn up and get the crowd going with their performance.

Hasn't put it on the crowd at all.

Either way, I'm a massive believer if your crowd are backing you, rather than hurling abuse or booing, or moaning constnatly, it can give individuals extra energy.

Not everyone in the world has thick skin and can just ignore it.

Goodison always supports an Everton team that are committed and playing the style we want to see - direct, high energy, aggressive football.

The crowd thing really goes without saying now. The players know what they need to do to get 100% backing. They have no excuses.

People make excuses for Brands, but the bitter reality is there is no point having a DoF if he is as powerless as Brands. So, he became part of the problem: a stuffed shirt taking the money in skinny jeans.
Brands was just one of the Moshiri problems, but we dont know how much he was allowed to work without influence from Farhad, he hinted at it when questioned at the Derby by fans but kept his mouth shut, Brands was a failure but %50 of it could of been because he didnt have free reign

Which is right. Don't get me wrong, it's great when we go in and the supporters are buzzing and backing them wildly, but Frank has literally just said it's on the players to provide that energy as well, they cant start without energy and expect the supporters to do it for them.

I am enthusiastic about the current set up from certain points of view because it seems to suggest that we are finally letting people do the jobs they are paid for.

Lampard asked for robust players in the summer and we got Coady and Tarkowski who had been fine examples of that.

As for Thelwell, I am getting concerned about us hiring anyone who’s ever set foot in Wolverhampton but it at least shows that he has control of hiring support staff. If he didn’t have control then I don’t think Bill or whoever would be hiring so many from there.

Frank’s repeated use of the phrase “we have to be smart” is encouraging in some respects but also a worry that we won’t have the resources to give us the real attacking uplift that we need in Jan.

What you are basically say is we have a rubbish fanbase, who cant be bothered to actually support the team when they need it, supporting Everton should be an unconditional love, not just when there is a bandwagon worth jumping on

No I've said that the players will be backed 100% if they do the right things. Which is absolutely the way it should be too. Its a 2 way thing.

And there lies the problem, its a two way thing but from our side we should always be supporting the team, otherwisre we are a major part of the problem, we cant pick and choose when to be and when not to be a supporter.
I correclty pointed this out a lot last season, and what happened towards to end, the penny dropped that they really needed our support, and they do again now

Being a good supporter does not mean supporting poor decisions that are causing the club to fail. That's what a bad supporter would do.

You mean like a miss placed pass? Being a good supporter means supporting the players for 90 minutes, not just when they dont need it

Huge fork in the road moment for him today. A defeat makes his position completely untenable. A win and let’s hope that can be a springboard for the next few games after City, which will be crucial to determining what league we are playing in next season. A draw puts huge pressure on us to take 6 points from the Brighton and Southampton games.
