2022/23 Frank Lampard

If Lampard is sacked it will be down to the board selling Richarlison and him keeping faith with a crocked forward who'll likely never play consistently in the PL again.

That's all it'll be down to.

The rest of his time here I think has been acceptable. And his role in keeping us up will never be forgotten.

Agree with all of this. Hopefully the board protests really ramp up in the near future and fans start to focus on the real rot at this club, but I don’t have faith in that happening.

Huge fork in the road moment for him today. A defeat makes his position completely untenable. A win and let’s hope that can be a springboard for the next few games after City, which will be crucial to determining what league we are playing in next season. A draw puts huge pressure on us to take 6 points from the Brighton and Southampton games.
Yup, that's about it in a nutshell. A win today would be huge in that it gives us lift-off up the table and gives Lampard breathing space. It must be extremely difficult to manage a side when you are constantly looking over your shoulder, but it's only good results that can give him that space. And, really, beating Wolves at home cannot be beyond him if he harbours notions of staying in the job. We're going to be game-to-game for a while. Until we can get a run together of decent results, he's going to be under pressure. It could all end any day if we lose today. By the same token, a win keeps his head above water - until the next day. It's make or break time for Frank. Sink or swim.

The truth of the matter is that we've been Championship class for years.

It's only a matter of time before that's made a reality.

The Everton manager's job is the poison chalice of football. Only chancers will ever want to take that job up in future.

We are sadly heading for the abyss and nothing will stop us.

I mean, I really hope we get 3 points against Wolves and a win v Brighton and add a decent striker or two in January, but that looks remote.

Lampard will be the next sacrificial lamb. I have no doubt about that. If he survives the next month I'll be staggered.

I agree there feels an inevitability about where we’re going, whether that’s this season, next, or the next one. We can only stagger along with the current circus act running the club for a finite amount of time. The fat lady is behind the curtain and ready for her cue to enter the stage.

MOSHIRI OUT before it’s too late.

That stadium will be hosting Championship games from the off.

There should be riots over this situation.

We should give him until the FA cup game. No use sacking him (of even discussing it) before Brighton.
The next man will immediately get 10 days to prepare the squad for Southampton.

Still, new manager, same result. Soon we will have three managers on our payroll... Benitez, Lampard & the replacement

You're right, but his few mistakes have simply been too big and unforgivable.

1. Used 60m of funds on Maupay, McNeil and Onana

2. Added 100k a week to an already inflated wage bill by signing off on that bum Alli

3. Put all his faith in a crocked Calvin Lewin.

Apart from that he's been ok (nothing more) and has done well to get the fans on board.

But those mistakes are major mistakes and are the reason we are where we are.

If he's to be punted, so should Thelwall be, and don't bother replacing the latter as it doesn't work at Everton.

Frank Lampard is not a major problem.

His actions last season eventually arrested the situation and we avoided relegation.

His actions in the transfer market this season with the proceeds of the enforced Richarlison sale have been hit and miss.

I'll accept his position should be questioned if we dont win today. I WONT accept that Lampard is the major issue at this club.

You, me, most on here and last but not least, Lampard himself.

Agree.

If he’d had DCL of a few seasons ago, Richarlison and James Rodriguez then instead of Gordon, Gray and Maupay upfront, with the rest of the current team, reckon he’d have us doing quite well.

As it is, selling Richarlison and then kneecapping Frank’s ability to replace him, while at the same time having to completely overhaul most other areas of the team have left him a pretty rough/impossible ask.

Board incompetence on Peter Risdale scale has left us in this position, not Frank.

No, it will be down to the owner, the sale of Richarlison is on him, and his way of running the club, nobody else

I’d say all of those things are products of the position the board put us in.

We can’t compete with other teams for players we want, we’re shopping in the bargain basement for players way down the list of the ones we want because they’re available at structured payments, we’re having to take gambles and punts.

Could say well scout good players from abroad but our scouting system has been disrupted and changed so frequently, none of it Lampards fault.

Aye, the situation we're in is of a much longer making and mainly due to scatter gun policies from the top.

This has included an ad hoc approach to signings, fuelled by dysfunctional management behind the scenes spanning all of Moshiri's reign.

Personally, I do feel that we're now heading in a better direction behind the scenes, but years of mismanagement will take a good few years to rectify.

It won't happen overnight. Nevertheless, the right manager could act as the catalyst for change because ultimately performing on the pitch is the benchmark.

I think we've improved in many areas, yet there are teams above us who shouldn't be, and I put this down to a lack of goals. Frank can't rely on signings alone.

For example, we've continued to play Maupay in a system set up for Dom, and we then question why he doesn't look like scoring. Chalk and cheese...
