2022/23 Frank Lampard

I think Lampard will probably relegate us. The problem is, the club is such a badly run circus and hamstrung financially, that, at this stage, I think that whoever we can tempt to take our poison chalice of a job will also probably relegate is. I had high hopes for Lampard, but, he is really looking out of his depth now, the problems though go so much deeper than just the manager.
That’s why for me it should be Sean dyche. The reason being he has vast experience in the prem and also the championship. That’s not me accepting relegation, but right now it’s a good chance we do go down. At least with him we have a fighting chance staying up but if god forbid we go down he has the experience to bring us back up. He also works well with what he has got and tight budgets, pretty much the situation we find ourselves in. If Lampard goes the next manager needs to be here regardless of where we finish.

He’s not THE issue but he’s certainly an issue in the final third. He offers nothing going forward compared to Patterson on the right hand side.
He delivered the best ball of the game and if Gordon had one iota of ability would have lead to a goal.

He's not even close to being an issue in this team. Him, Patterson and gueye were our best players yesterday.

I think if gueye stays on the pitch we don't lose that game. He would have come for the ball and tried to do something more with it when the defenders were playing keep ball. Doucoure is awful and he's one I would be looking to offload asap.

We should have been home and dry yesterday.
This is the most galling part: you could see where it was heading as we missed those key chances. Like a few games this season, we've fluffed our chances.

I get the doom and gloom and I understand the concerns, but it feels as if we're making more chances this season and have a far more solid defence.

The difference is that last season we had someone who could score when required; someone with that magic. Right now, we lack that ability to convert.

We can't rely on Dom, so if nothing happens soon in terms of transfers, then I admit we're in trouble. If we can get someone to score, I think we'll be fine.

Is Lampard the person to do it, though? I'm really not sure any more because week-in, week-out, we appear to be doing the same ol' thing that isn't working.

I wanted Lampard to succeed. However last few games before the break and last night. I don’t understand McNeil starting over grey. Yeah both not great options on the wing but I prefer pace. Then the cannon sub which was weird making waiting another 10 mins and then taking gana off for doucs. Totally mad decisions. I don’t understand the Godfrey one either holgate should be on. Godfrey just comes come back from a lengthy leg break. And he looked out of pace a few times for the under 23s.

Lampard doesnt have a clue. Last season he was a lucky boy that Richarlison did find some form. His goals, stamina and enthusiasms saved us. Lampard did his best (Watford game) to torpedo all efforts. Somehow he is on a mission to get Everton in the championship.

Issue way deeper than the manager...given that we've gone through how many since moyes now?

all with different backgrounds and styles yet same results each time.
The club needs to be revamped from top to bottom. The owner, the chairman, CEO and board gone. Only person I would keep is Kevin thewell as he seems to have a long term plan and currently in the process of doing it. But I agree until major changes at the top happen we will be stuck in this cycle.

Aye, the decision-making process is a genuine and sizeable concern. Even before the game started, I was wondering why we're persisting with Maupay as it was.

While the lad hasn't been a great hit and clearly underperformed yesterday, I do have some sympathy for him as he's being put into a system that doesn't fit him.

He ain't tall, pacey and a poacher - he isn't a striker who you'd utilise as a lone forward to hold up the ball. This is what we expect from Dom, and set up as so.

Maupay needs to play with someone up front with him, so things need to change, but Frank perseveres with a system that is not meeting our needs.

Now, from afar it's easy to say we need to change, although admittedly I'm unsure what system we should utilise, so that's where Frank must earn his bread.

Another question includes why Gueye, who is our best defensive midfielder, is being asked to play so far forward. What's Onana's best position?

The tools aren't the best, but they're there.

The attackers just don't know how to sustain pressure on opposition defences

It's just toothless running and no actual meaningful key passes.

Chalk the city came because it's a dead horse and focus on getting deals done so they come on the first day of the window.

If we do not bring in 2 starting attacking players who actually impact games then it's the final curtain for us this time

We do lack goal threat and do needs more players to come in with better quality. But as you said a simple formation change and the likes of onana and gueye both sitting would help.
