2022/23 Frank Lampard

Anyone else hoping Brentford win tonight as West Ham might decide on a change too?

I think that would be the best solution all around for us to be fair.
i can't see moyes coming to us even if he gets sacked by west ham

moyes will always be a kenwright suggestion and given that moshiri is under pressure and has recently received an open letter calling for Kenwright's resignation, I can't see him going with a kenwright appointment

Plus thinking of timing, would Moyes moved from one relegation fight to another mid season

Our one is probably the tougher fight to have of the two as well

His overall results at West Ham ain’t too bad. I would love to get the 7th place trophy back after seeing all these chaotic years apart from Carlo’s era.

If the stats convince us we can stay up then he should stay but with 16 games gone, this isn’t the case.
This is where his lack of a CV comes back to bite him - and us. None of us have a crystal ball and can definitively prove that Frank will keep us up or take us down as we try to work out what the best course of action would be. We are all relying on our judgement and, perhaps, prejudices or agendas. But if Frank was an experienced manager with a body of work to fall back on, one might be more likely to trust him or give him the benefit of the doubt. Frank's managerial record - scant as it is - shows that he does not overachieve. He does, more or less, what one might expect him to do. Now, if you argue that Frank is cursed with one of the three weakest squads in the league, then his record points to relegation. If you think the squad is better than that, then it's a question of margins. How much better are we than the bottom three? Is Frank even hitting par?

It's all a matter of opinions, but I've seen enough of Frank after 35 games. 34 points is just not good enough a haul to convince me he'll keep us safe. He might keep us up again - just - but the statistics say it'll be too tight for any comfort, and certainly too tight to nail our colours to his mast with any confidence.

Frank looked quite relaxed and healthy after their nice but pointless Aussie jaunt, with some hairline recuperation. Be interesting to see if he rolls up today looking like the final days of Koeman, like he’s slept in a bin.

Commence operation “I wasn’t blaming the fans, they have been great since I’ve been here. I was asking them to stick with the team. Anthony is a young winger and that’s what happens with younger players, they constantly miss nailed on sitters.”

I can’t see it judging from what I see. We can’t score and we lack cutting edge in front of the goal. And the point to game is the best indication. I would love Frank to do well right from the beginning. However, I have grave concern now because I don’t want Everton to relegate since the team is painful to watch and the winning rate is horrendous. I have no idea who is the right successor.

Whatever your thoughts on Lampard as a manager, he has effectively had one window and half a season to fix a team who were the worst performing team in the league when he arrived.
Any manager will need more forbearance than that.

Ultimately we will never achieve some form of stability on the pitch if we don’t have stability in the coaching staff.
We have been in a cycle of sacking managers and their staff with diminishing returns.
We have to give a manager room to fail if we want to find any form of success.
It is highly unlikely that any manager will come in and fix our mess in one season.
It's a difficult decision because while we definitely need some stability, we also need to make sure that the person we're giving time to is capable of doing the job. I'm not sure Lampard is unfortunately. I've been in favour of keeping him but the Wolves game tipped the balance towards getting rid for me, I just don't really see what he's bringing. With the exception of Benitez, who should never have been appointed, there's a good argument that of all the managers we've burned through, he's the one who has least 'deserved' time. We need to make sure we're not just giving him time for the sake of it because we're fed up of sacking people, there has to be an underlying reason for keeping him on. I think the City game is a write off so if we lose to Brighton it becomes really difficult to see how he stays on, in the relegation zone at the half way point and 4 points from the last 10 league games (with a cup defeat in the middle) would be sackable for absolutely anybody in world football.

Lampards taken us into two consecutive relegation battles and some dooey eyed romantics in the fanbase want this fella to be the chosen one to keep faith in ?

Baffling.

Would love to know what this progress is they have seen, because I have seen no evidence of it. He is tactically inept and I don't know what his 20 or so staff do other than steal a living

He should of gone after Bournemouth, didn't see the point in giving him the Wolves/ City/Brighton games for us to loose all 3 then sack him mid window with games coming fast.
Yep. A 7-1 defeat on aggregate to a newly promoted team who did not have a full time manager which saw us go 17th should have been the time to pull the trigger particularly with the six week gap which was like a mini pre season again.

Do agree but if he plays maupy again loses alot of my respect..

I’d love for someone with more technical know-how and free time to knock up a montage of the “Everton ageing process“ on our recent manager’s first and last games. I remember a disheveled, unshaven Koeman shuffling about at the end of his tenure, it was quite the look. Martinez also looked like his own father in just 3 years

Can we not have a meltdown when he comes out in his conference and says things like “we’re looking to add if we can”. “January is a difficult window”.

He will know as much as us how desperately short we are in forward areas. It’s just a game they have to play in press conferences… even though other clubs will know how desperate we are too.
