I don't agree this squad is worse than some of those we've had through the years under those other managers. We've seen Everton teams with awful, terrible players: Straq, Cuco, Niasse, McGeady, Shandy, Alcaraz, Nyarko, Kroldrup, Sandro, Joe-Max Moore, Brett Angel... Even if you ignore Richy and Dom's playing time, Maupay is no worse than them and none of our midfielders or defenders are as bad. And yet these are arguably the worst stats in the last 30 years.
At the moment I would welcome Niasse

Frank has a much better win rate with us than Martinez had in his last two seasons at our club….
Nonsense

My only gripe with Martinez was he was so stubborn and wouldn't change it up.

Not sure if he's developed as a coach as I can't say I followed his Belgium stint closely but they didn't sack him for 6 years I guess

We’re in trouble here.

problem is, the rest of the dross in the league are far better than they used to be. Look at Brighton and brentford. Back in the days of Brett Angel there was real whipping boys in the league
Yeah you're right: that was, thankfully, the case and of course we did (usually) have a few good players.

I was just trying to offer a bit of a counter-argument to the view that these players are freakishly poor. They're not. The tactics, in so far as we have any, are just wrong, and the players are mostly not working hard enough. Both of those things can be improved by a good manager.

I actually agree.
But I am unsure whether it's fully tactics or the attack because our attack is disgraceful

It's so bad it actually confuses me as to what the game plan is

I refuse to believe frank is telling gray and Gordon to not pick their heads up for a pass or hold it up waiting for the overlap, but it's so frequent and never changes so what's the deal

Yeah it's a genuine mystery. They've both shown they're capable of doing that at times in the past. Frank said himself he's asking the players to be bolder in the final third, which is exactly what they need to do. But as you say, they're ignoring those instructions so consistently. Why do they still get picked every game?

Wolves' goal the other day was a killer because there was literally no movement ahead of the ball. Then when we lost it, Onana was the only player busting a gut to get back and defend. He ran right past Iwobi, who was jogging, and almost managed to block the shot.

Both of these issues indicate a serious lack of courage and commitment. The question is whether those qualities are just inherent in players or can they be instilled by a good manager. I think at least to an extent they can be, or at least can be to an extent lost under a poor manager.

Not sure where you plucked that one from mate. Martinez Premier League win percentages were 2013/14 = 55%, 2014/15 = 32% and 2015/16 = 27%.

Lampard is current at 26.4% for his total Premier League wins with Everton since he took over and just 18.75% for this season so far which is absolutely shocking and closer to Mike Walker territory than anyone else.

Martinez got 29.33% in his 2nd and 3rd seasons. Stats don’t lie. Frank won 3 in 17 (will lose tomorrow) which will be a shocking 17.6% for this season. About 25.7% from the 35 league games he has had with us.

I can’t believe I say this but getting Martinez 11th is better than relegation. This is sad, our standard of expectation has become so low. Our aim is to stay up I mean what the hack!? I feel like this is the same as the 97/98 season. Give me back the old Moyes time anyday, I miss it.

Anyone else hoping Brentford win tonight as West Ham might decide on a change too?

I think that would be the best solution all around for us to be fair.
