2022/23 Frank Lampard

As much as he won’t like it Lamps will have to accept that it’s a game by game thing at the moment. If we are careering towards relegation by Feb then it would be very difficult for the club not to sack him. Not sure any club these days would be bold enough to stick by him. But on the other hand a few decent results and pull away from the bottom a bit and things will look very different. They should at least run his deal down if we are out of danger. Then a more measured decision can be made about who takes the team forward.

I think I’m also judging him on a game by basis as well at the moment. It also has to be noted that he is working without an effective front line. I do think things will improve if he can get a reliable and functioning front 3/4.

One really amusing thing in this thread is people picking after a match where we had 0 real chances and only scored because of a stunning individual effort to run with a "the finishing is letting us down" narrative. I have to applaud Lampard though. He's been gaslighting about being clinical for months and it's worked apparently. That's a good job keeping yourself employed.

If only we picked the ball up on halfway and dribbled 50 yards before smashing a screamer in more often. Then we'd see how good Frank is doing.

I think people need to get realistic about Everton. We are a relegation outfit now. We have to judge our managers in a different way then we did the likes of Silva and Koeman.

Staying right where we are now in the table is probbaly the extent of our ambitions.

We need to put 7/8 points between us and 3rd bottom. That is success for us now.

Lampard will be judged on that basis for me. If he cant get us that distance then he'll have to face the consequences. To get that gap though he needs help from the board getting attackers in.

Relegation outfits dont have the 7th highest wage bill in the league.

So I will judge our managers on that.

The point is you’re happy to give him credit for his tactics/setup when we succeed, then fault the attackers when it doesn’t.

Example is Grey scoring an absolute worldie yesterday and Frank getting the credit. But then his worshippers are out of force when we lose, with their usual BS of ‘what do you expect with an attack consisting of £1.5m player’
You keep using really extreme words to invalidate me but it’s not true. I never said he’s a mastermind in my first post and I’m certainly not a worshipper and honestly I’m not sure who is?

I was happy with the tactics yesterday, they kept City down to one goal from a half chance and luckily Gray managed to pull off a wonder goal, a point earned with a bit of luck. I also thought his tactics were fine against Wolves but we have crap forwards and didn’t score enough so we lost.

Who are these Frank worshippers? Are you just being purposefully over the top to try and discredit people with different opinions than you who think Frank is doing ok and would do better with better players and most managers would struggle to win games with our current forward line?

Is that still the case with a couple of new attacking forwards?

I then see us as mid-table, at the least.

We should get Jordan Peterson to run some mental therapy sessions with the lads to get their alpha fires burning.

Also give them performance enhancing drugs.

Yeah you’re right to be fair. I saw someone describe Onana’s chance at Spurs as a sitter before. A defensive midfielder picking the ball up in our own half and carrying it 50 yards before shooting on the stretch on his wrong foot has somehow become evidence of how we create good chances but don’t take them, it’s a bit mad.

Is our wage bill that high? I thought we were 9th, and trending downwards?
8th last accounts I think, possibly lower now with other clubs spending.
