They have a great squadVilla improved so much under a decent manager, new manager affect.
The Brighton game is our 18th of the season, the halfway point is 19 games. It is very much around the halfway point, as I said, the only thing stopping it being the halfway point is the fact we’ll still have to play the team that’s top of the table twice. If people panic after losing to Brighton it won’t be because we’ve lost one game, it’ll be because we’ll be fast running out of games to win.I’d just prefer to look at where we are at the end of this month which will be around the halfway point of the season

Does the score matter though? If we lose to Brighton that's 3 losses in a row at home to lower half teams. Games we need to be winning to stay in the leagueIf we were losing 3-0 or 4-0 to teams. apart from the Bournemouth games I haven't seen much so far to be concerned about.
Not saying to not be up for it. But we shouldn't get carried away thinking we will stamp them into next week. Nor should it be back to wanting to kill ourselves if we lose.Nahhh, not having this. There’s getting carried away and there is then being able to compete with teams, especially at home. Everyone needs to be up for Brighton.
Yes IMO, because losing with big margins shows we are not competing at this level and that lies with the manager. We have a mediocre/unbalanced squad and we would be overachieving if we were in the top 7, it needs a major rebuild which is underway, Brighton will be a tough game but one in which I think we will win.Does the score matter though? Brighton are a solid team.
Most teams in this league are solid in comparison to us. But we still have to take points off them to survive. This will be a tough game - they all are when you are as poor as us - but that does not eliminate the need to take at least something from it.Not saying to not be up for it. So which is it?Another issue with Lampard is come the end of the season he'll only have around 12 months left on his contract.
It's not ideal to have the manager go into the final 12 months of his deal but could anyone honestly say he's done enough to deserve a new contract ?
No doubt the idiot chairman will give him a bumper 3 yr deal to only then sack him 6 months later.
So which is it?
Do you want him on a short contract or a 3 year contract?
He won't get a new contract, but it will be a big weight off our shoulders if he can save his job and get us away from relegation.Another issue with Lampard is come the end of the season he'll only have around 12 months left on his contract.

I think in the scheme of things we have to worry about at present, this is pretty far down the list.I was always of the opinion that if the board knew Thelwell/a new DOF was inbound then Lampard or whoever else followed on from Benitez should have been a temporary 6-12 month appointment with Thelwell given time during that period to identify a long term appointment who suits his philosophy that he wants to implement long term.
Obviously we gave Lampard a 2.5 yr deal which runs oot end of next season. For me the clubs backed itself into a difficult corner - on one hand you dont want uncertainly around the place with a manager entering his final 12 months of his deal but likewise you dont want to commit to a new bumper deal when he's currently failing to impress.
I personally think he'll get a new deal should he avoid the sack between now and the seasons end but I dont think he realistically deserves it and if he struggles start of next season it would be yet another looming big pay off for another sacked manager.
Its why this season was never about transition etc that was Lampards 6 months in charge last season - this season should have been his audition to prove he's good enough to build a long term plan around which he is currently failing at. But again knowing dooey eyed Kenwrong he'll likely think the managers doing a stellar job.
