Looking at the fixtures you can identify games we should be targeting wins; Home against Southampton, Leeds, Villa, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth. Realistic away games we should be able to target something from; West Ham, Forest, Palace, Wolves. Plus other games we could ground out a point as we did against City.

However we’ve lost at home against Wolves and been thrashed by Brighton at home and Bournemouth away in our last 4 league games. This squad isn’t great but with a number 10 and a reliable option up front we would be more than capable of getting out of this. I just don’t think our board is capable of delivering the new players required and don’t think Lampard can organise us effectively enough to get the required results. I’d gamble on selling Gordon and investing that money this window.

I think its hard to organise poor players. Maybe he should just do exactly what ancelotti did. Accept the creative quality isnt there and just park the bus and nick wins. But even ancelotti was struggling to get a full season out of that. Last part of the season they were running out of steam. Thing is we havent got enough right now to win games on the counter. I wouldnt mind seeing ings and deulofeu signed and play them with gray. Defend deep and those 3 counter attacking wouldnt be that bad.

Real grim though isnt it. Scratching my head as to where any quality comes from.

Yes it's a substandard squad and I am not blaming Frank totally as the club is rotten from the top down it's why we keep failing. But after a year do you see a style of play?! Do you see attacking patterns? Do you see him sticking with a successful formation? Do you see good in game management, I don't. That's my worry that no matter the squad he doesn't have the tactical experience and his coaching is substandard. Yes we can put it on lack of players but he should be getting more out of the squad.
Spot on mate. We have 38 styles of play and 38 formations as in a different one every game. Even when something works he changes it and he wonders why there is no consistency. A bit of consistency in management would be a good place to start. The only game plan is to panic with 10 minutes to go and then blame the fans for not getting them over the line.

Nice bloke but a terrible manager. Needs a lot more experience and hopefully that will be at a different club than ours.

Lampard is once again extremely lucky in his managerial career that he's arrived at Everton at the time a major meltdown is happening with the fans and board. Because he is seen to be affected by their misdealings, people see him as 'one of us' and his managerial capability isn't being brought into question as much as it would be if we were in a stable period. And he knows this. Its why he's playing up to the fans with all the right words now, 'it's an honour to manage the club' etc.

Agree with all of the above but I don’t think Lampard is as clueless as some make out. Yes he has made mistakes but it must be frustrating for him to try and get some momentum going given he can not rely on this bunch to perform from one week to the next.
Fully agree about how frustrated Lampard must be. He was a top player, one of the best in the Prem era, and played alongside top players every week who all performed every week. Now he's working with a squad where none of them would make the bench at Chelsea back in the day.

We're relying on 3 clubs being worse than us.....Forest, Southampton and 1 other....

If Dominic Calvert-Lewin gets injured again We're 100% relegated.....the board as usual are sleep walking their way through this...we should have been active in the transfer market on January 1st, we don't have time to wait till the end of the month.....we've known we need another Striker, we've known we need another Right back to replace Coleman, we've known Richarlison hasn't been replaced, we've known Lampard doesn't want Doucoure

Southampton and West Ham games are probably the 2 biggest games of our season now....lose them and we're absolutely f**ked
We signed Maupay?

Im curious, dont want to make a new thread or come across as overly negative.

But simple question, if we get beat tomorrow, would you :

1. Want to see Lampard sacked
2. Give him more time
The idea that this cup game should have any impact on the manager is silly, he's our worst statistical manager since Mike Walker, is doing worse than his predecessor with more money to spend, so obviously he should be out.

1. Sacked.

We can only go off what we have already seen and that is 3 wins out of the last 18 and the 2nd worst win rate in about god knows how many decades. We might still get relegated even if we sack him but if he is given more time there is absolutely no doubt at all that we will definitely be relegated.
