2022/23 Frank Lampard

People are getting sucked in by tonight's game . Ya we showed a bit of fight and looked a little better. But there wasn't a whole lot of pressure on in a cup game at old Trafford. We showed something similar at city last week and 3 days later got embarrassed at home .
Passion and fight will help , but until the coaching and tactical set up is much better then we aren't getting out of this mess.
We also need to be almost perfect defensively due to our lack of attacking threat, and these defenders are making lots of basic errors.

Realistically, I dont see how Lampard turns this around. But next week we need 3 points because I think we could go on a terrible run and be cut adrift if we dont win that game. They are the only team in the league who you can make an argument that they are worse than us. If Lampard can't beat them, then he doesnt deserve another chance.

I’m gonna go against the grain here, I’d stick with him. I’m sick of changing managers like a revolving door club, he’s inherited a poor team, had to sell our best player, not really had the funds to attract better players so had to take punts on maupay/McNeil type players. I hope he can bring a striker in this month as a bare minimum. Franks not perfect .. far from it… but another new manager is gonna come in, he’s still got the same group of players, they’ll be trying to play another new system…. Worst case scenario we go down, don’t get me wrong I’d be devastated if that happened but ..and don’t shoot me… maybe it’s what this club needs… a period of rebuilding and instilling a new ethos through the club so we’re better equipped to compete when we do come back up. Don’t expect anyone to agree with me but I’m sick of all the chopping and changing over the past few years.

Ah forgot they had that brief season back in the championship. Got Burnley to 7th, that is a miracle
he did, I wanted Everton to go all for him in 2017 (that same season) rather than BFS, who was always short term. Dyche could have built something then.

But since then I think he's shown himself as more and more limited. I also don't think the squad suits him as much as people think it would.

But look, if he was the one they went with it'd show where we are, but it might mean we have a 10% better chance of staying up, so it'd be worth it. He'd still need signings.

If they don't sack him this weekend, then they have to sign at least one player, but it should be two, in time for the S'ton-West Ham double header.

We then don't have a game until February, which is the most crucial of months.

Is either this this weekend to sack him or not at all. Issue I have with Frank is it wouldn’t surprise if he goes with a back four against Southampton. We clearly need to play with a back five but he’s just too inconsistent with his tactics.

I dont see anything to suggest they will sack this week. Which means Southampton is win or bust.

And I would be very shocked if they make signings this week. They haven't the will to do it or the capabilities to make it happen

Realistically there wouldn't be enough time for a new manager to come in etc before then. Why put the stress and pressure on Baines etc. They're probably interviewing people already. If Lampard loses against Southampton which is likely - sacked and new guy in.
A loss to Southampton would be catastrophic, it's our most winnable game the rest of the season.

Not ever managed a team myself like but does it ever get to a stage where you just think i cant make average players do good things on the pitch. I can get them to give as much fight as possible. But i just cant make idrissa gueye turn into kevin de bruyne.
I ask because this tactical word is coming up a lot. And most who bring it up are saying he has to just play 5 at the back and keep it tight. Which is an admission that we havent actually got very many creative players.

Yeah, we don't need "enjoy the ball" Frank Lampard now. We need defensively-deep, well-organised Francesco Lampardo. Not that I'd stick with him, mind.
