2022/23 Frank Lampard

Moshiri's radio comments last week have made it very hard to change manager. He doubled down in support of the manager and board, and doubled down on the fans, so I don't know where we go now.
The comments were unusual and he painted himself into a corner with them.

My own belief is that it is felt that FL was not able to build a team in the first half of the team because 9of the lack of creative and striking options. They may intend trying to rectify that in this window and we only have one more game before the window closes so that effectively gives him half a season to get us out of trouble.

That may be their reasoning, I can't say I agree with it if it is.

Given the club was/is desperate for stability, I bet point No1 on the 120-point plan is to not deviate, not panic in difficult times, don’t be swayed by media pressure and to stick with the plan to avoid more upheaval etc etc.

Fair enough, but point No2 should have started “Unless….”. Was probably something stupid about increasing brand awareness in New Zealand.

“I said to the players 'this is not a huge tactical game, it is more of sticking together and continue with the right effort".

This is the quote that bugs me most from the weekend. We have led at home in must win games against Wolves and Southampton and with the right tactics, could have seen those games out. The 6 points for us and the three less for them would see the table look a whole lot better at the moment.

If a football match isn't about tactics as a manager then you are in the wrong job I'm afraid.. Sorry Frank, buy that comment convinces me you will not turn it around, or indeed have a successful career in football management full stop.

It’s only occurred to me recently but is it possible that Lampard is transmitting the wrong kind of message to this team with his constant reminders that we struggled against relegation last year so it is no surprise we are again this season. Surely he should be saying this squad is better than their league position last year, and he expects the team to demonstrate what they’re capable of. He is essentially telling the squad you are only capable of a relegation battle so what is happening shouldn’t be a surprise. This is hardly going to build confidence or expectation of winning games.

Lampard should go, but does anyone trust the board to make the right appointment? Their shortlist will be Dyche and Moyes. Not that I'm opposed to either in our situation like, but they won't look outside of this country.
I am opposed to both

There is supposed to be a long term plan being implemented across the club which involves a style of football being played across all the age groups

There will be lots and lots of competent managers in the world who are capable of getting half a tune out of our current squad whilst simultaneously playing football in a vaguely similar way to the wider "vision" the club wants.

We do not need to have heard of these managers for them to be competent, but Dyche and Moyes are automatically disregarded because we know their footballing style means a short term approach and the first team doing their own thing, meaning no coherent plan can be implemented across the club and then we keep rinsing and repeating

The next manager does not need to be someone we all know, in fact it would be better if we didn't. Frankly the fans need to keep their noses out of it - let's not forget that a year ago there were literally protests outside the ground demanding that we install Lampard as manager because he was "young and hungry" and seen as someone who would "unite the fanbase". Actually evaluating whether someone is competent or not seems to be an afterthought for these people.

If I were other clubs at the bottom Ild be watching warily at what Everton do with Lampard.

Hammers fans complaining about Moyes yesterday were saying that if we get shut of Lamaprd and get a new manager in they are doomed.

Dramatic, but I can see the logic....because it is logical.
Yes. If we recruit a manager with a good pedigree this week we will stay in this division, without question.

Frank has got to go. And before West Ham. We can’t afford to lose there.

Frank is a good young manager and he has been dealt a terrible hand. He inherited a squad of mostly decent lads who simply aren’t good enough. Then he was forced to sell his best player. However, he is out of his depth with such a problem club as ours.

This is not a time for high minded principles. It's a time for pragmatism. I dont just mean Moyes either, it could be Dyche, it could be Allardyce etc.

I really like Lampard, but hes a beaten man. I wish he wasnt. But the job needs a more experienced manager.
My sentiments exactly. Frank gets us and he is a decent bloke, but he’s now starting to look ill.

It's well past due. But 18 games to go. 2 points from 14th.

Yes, we're in bad shape but look at where Newcastle were last season at this point or even Burnley who were on about 12 points and the way they fought back and blew it only in the last two games having got 'safe'.

A new manager unifies. That's my view. We need that to face these 18 games.
Very true.

All is not lost. But sadly young Frank must go this week.
