2022/23 Frank Lampard

If true: The fact the people making decisions are swayed by one man and a tin of spray paint proves they shouldn’t be running a football club in the first place.

The fact that the only 2 managerial candidates were Lampard and Pereira at all is another issue in itself.
Let's not forget that the tide of opinion was that Lampard was by far the better choice.

Pereira had his mad on-air appeal for the job on Sky that turned everyone off him.

It's fair to question why those two were the leading candidates (or even why Dunc was a third) - but I think of them, the overwhelming majority wanted Lampard.

I know I did.

Weirdly enough, it's like someone has shut the media up with pressure about his job. It's all been quiet after our 'spirited performance' against United.
I mean it hasn't at all.

You know why there's nothing in the media? Because nobody from the club is talking. They're all hiding. The board, Thelwell, Moshiri is a lunatic who's never there anyway.

The only person being left to front up to all of this is Lampard.

Probably the one manager who deserved more time. But the board had made their minds up long before fans voices their views.
He didn't deserve more time, btw.

He absolutely took the p*** when he was here. He would swan off to his villa in Moraira (Spain) every other week. Sammy Lee was the one who actually turned up and took training.

Sam had us safe by Feb, and refused to try and play anything resembling half-decent footy to get the fans on-side.

He also spent £50MILLION on Walcott and Tosun, with their wages costing Everton £220k p/wk.

So no, he absolutely didn't 'deserve more time'.

People are really rewriting history here.

Again, the vitriol in here should be directed at a DoF who has consistently failed now for the near 11 months he has been in the role. He's been here nearly as long as Lampard, why is he escaping this?

It should be directed at the board of directors, who are hiding.

It should be directed at Farhad Moshiri, who is the only one who can make a decision.

This manager isn't good enough, he never has been. Fans did go crazy last year and some did actually protest for Lampard. I think, out of the choices, he was the best one, but he was never going to have what was needed to turn this around long term.

But then the club stuck with him and their version of 'backing him' in the summer was to fail on all of their first-choice targets bar Onana, who we can all agree has been hit and miss but at 21 looks like he has the talent to actually go on and be a really good player, based on performances like the other day, all while having sold the player that had the quality/goals to drag us through last year.

Lampard gets his blame for signing off on McNeil and Maupay but the dossers at the top of the club who were in charge of getting the players in are the ones who presented him with those options. Honestly, how do you go from MGW to McNeil? They're in no way alike in how they play.

The last part is massive understatement.

100% agreed

Worth pointing out that, as much as some people hate it, underlying data is important in football. It might not necessarily be relevant to any one specific game but over time, results fall in line with underlying performance data as we've seen this season

The underlying numbers when Allardyce was here were not good. It's fanciful to suggest that he'd have been a great long term bet.

As crazy as it sounds, I want us to lose the West Ham game, because he needs to go, whats the point in him winning that game and carrying on? Complete utter recklessness to let that happen

Pereira would've relegated us to be fair. He, like every single manager we've ever had bar Carlo and Big Sam, would've turned up trying to play expansive forward thinking football with a bunch of players who couldnt pass 2 yards to each other. And we'd get tonked.

"...you can’t just take rash decisions. We have two big games, Saturday and on the 21st… that’s the only focus". - Moshiri.

He said that at the end of a point about the board of directors, but he's obviously not going to take a decision to deal with them post West Ham game. The focus is on the team's performance, and that means a defeat has to see Lampard sacked.

Hopefully we win and he isn't sacked...and he's then handed a striker. But my suspicion / fear is that we wont win and any win we do get will be wasted as Lamaprd fails to get things right in a lot more games.
