They wouldn't be top of the league. They might avoid relegation.

Arsenal have made a couple of astute signings this year. Odegaard and Zinchenko have made a big difference. Jesus played a part early in the season but he's spent a lot of time injured. The players who are making that team tick every week are not on the whole more expensive than our players. Ben White might be the outlier. Odegaard cost the same as Iwobi. Zinchenko cost a little bit more than Dwight McNeil. Saka, Martinelli and Saliba were not expensive even by Everton standards.

Overall, since Arteta's appointment, they might have spent £100 million more than us. Significant, but nowhere near significant enough to explain the relative performance of these teams. Especially given that they've essentially shipped out well over £100 million's worth of players for free: Auba, Ozil, Lacazette, Pepe, Mkitharyan.
The headline cost isn’t always the big thing though. Zinchenko for example quite simply wouldn’t have come here when he had an offer from arsenal on the table. We need to be realistic about where we are as a club and who is willing to join us. Pretending that players who went to top 6 clubs would have come to us for the same money is just a false premise from the off.

I don’t like this line

One option would be to promote former player Leighton Baines, who is now in charge of the Under 18s, and Under 21 head coach Paul Tait to oversee matters.

If it’s caretaker that’s fine but not until May.
Agreed mate. Temp caretaker is fine and he might even get a bit of a bounce but anything more and it would probably be a disaster for him and us. Have to wait and see. Just hope these blurts finally do something quick and positive.

We should have them but we are a shambles. Should have someone ready to be in place by Wednesday. We won't.

Exactly and when they do arrive there will be fans pushing back against wanting the board out and “just get behind the team and manager “. You watch mate.

It took over 20 days to get a loan signing in.

And how long will it take for a replacement? Is it going to drag on as usual.

Given the results you would think possible replacements would be considered sooner. Even successful clubs have contingency plans should problems arrive.

That's the laughable thing mate. You could see Moshiri saying to Kenwright "I thought you were dealing with it" Kenwright saying "No Mosh, I thought you were dealing with it" Moshiri saying " I'm sure we may have agreed that Thelwell could deal with all that stuff" etc, etc, etc...

Absolutely fair point. I was just responding to a comment that Arsenal have done as well as they have because they've spent big and we're struggling because we haven't, or at least that we would be doing a lot better if we'd spent as much as them. I don't deny we'd be doing better if we'd spent on a striker as well as spending what we did on defenders and midfielders. I just don't think spending alone explains our relative positions.

Still baffled about yesterdays tactics .Half time subs were fair enough .. Maybe Vinagre or even Gordon maybe instead of Davies . But surely as game went on Gieye should have been hooped and Simms or Maupay should have come on . And then the other should have come on later to try and get something back ..Not sure how Frank saw it the way he did .

Ok, mate.
The entire squad suddenly developed lazyitis!

Do a bit of reading on the benefits of good management

it’s about discipline. A managers tactics is so much easier if the players step into the pitch with 100% attitude. A manager can only motivate if the players are willing to be motivated. God help you if you’re earning 50k per week and you need motivation to run.
