Carlo got criticised for finishing 10th and Benitez had to do higher than 10th or he was a lame duck but Lampard gets 17th and he's fine.

The mental gymnastics from his cult worshippers would be a sociologists dream to study lol
Its about context.

If he has a team of kids in the side and people can see a plan, then they will back it.

When I say people, I dont include myself.

I want a successful Everton, now, would rather not watch a bunch of kids attempting to learn football.

Context is important and you consistently ignore it. You wanted Ancelotti out but backed Benitez for some reason, so not sure what your point is because you didn't back the one who came top half.

Lampard has a dreadful squad. The worst of my lifetime. Those previous managers had Richarlison and a pre-injury DCL. Now we have sold one, and the other can't get fit. Take away their goals and the team is relegation fodder.

It's not mental gymnastics at all, it's basic context. Demanding top half so you can say the manager failed is a pretty obvious agenda. Not exactly subtle.

You also still haven't learned the meaning of the word cult I see!!

"I've never said bottom half is an achievement.

8th-10th is where this current squad is talent wise - if you want higher then back the manager with quality players its simple."

"If you think the owners are looking to sack and pay off another manager in 6-12 months time you're drinking the kool aid.

Benitez is going absolutely nowhere barring a flirt with relegation. This team is good enough for 8th-11th at present - no way he's sacked for that in his 1st season with a limited budget."

Last year aside we’ve coasted 10-12th with poor teams at times.
Lampard has deffo been dealt the worst hand in recent years though, no money and a relegation fighting team.
Also a lot of our squad have disappeared, thankfully, but it doesn’t help him.
He definitely needs to finish at least around10-12th but it will be tough because this is definitely a harder league than 2/3 years ago.

Who's demanding top half ?

I just find the managers biggest supporters constantly downplaying his ability strange.

We've had far worse squads than this one - Alladyce had Cucu Martina and Jonjoe Kenny playing games but finished 8th yet the fans still legged him.

Lampard flashes his knickers and says a few edgy things in his pressers and you've fallen head over heels accepting 17th place ya mad man! lol

He's managed to turn Iwobi into Pirlo, just needs another 10 years to do the other 10 on the pitch

You've been saying top half is the target.

Allardyce always had more goals - DCL, Rooney, Sigurddson etc. He was then given 50m net in a January window on a quick fix to that issue.

17th with this current squad is an achievement. There are absolutely no goals, and even with a good defence, that gets you relegated - see Burnley 2021/2022

I've said 8th-12th should be the aim - if it isn't then he's been our worst performing manager alongside Benitez since Moyes went.

Fans cannot accept that in one token but then call out the board/DOF/owner/club over a lack of ambishun.

We finished 12th when Silva was sacked in December with us in the bottom 3 and only half a season to go - that should be the minimum target imo just 3 games in.

Targets should be based on the quality of the playing squad. Nothing else.

You really need to divorce the manager being a success/failure from a random table finish.

The quality of a playing squad is subjective and always has been.

For example, I remember some fans telling me our squad was bang average under Silva when we had DCL, Richarlison, Gana, Zouma, Digna Mina, Pickford, younger Coleman.
