2022/23 Frank Lampard

We need to support a manager, but not support one because he says the right things. In the 25 league games he’s managed us we have a win % of 28%. The LOWEST of any manager since Walter Smith.

Is it really so absurd that some fans don’t trust the process here?
I think it is absurd yes. The context is that our squad is dire and the options available to the manager have been an embarrassment.

Expecting a side who came 16th the previous season to win games without an actual centre forward, is totally unrealistic. We have by far the worst attacking options in the league. How can we expect to win games at this level with these options?

If you think we can change manager and suddenly start winning with these players then I think you're in for a shock.

Lad genuinely striker situation aside, what have you seen that suggests Lampard is the long term answer this club needs?

Three of the four games have been against Brentford, Villa and Forest. That is three teams who are likely to be fighting relegation.

This is the concern.

Losing to Chelsea is understandable, although we won that game last season and those are generally the types of big games that we do put good performances in.

We have 2 points from a possible 9 from 3 teams who will struggle this season. Bournemouth have more points than us having played 3 of the top six.

What happens when we start playing the best teams? Leeds is now a massive, must win game.

It is a bit of a myth that Chelsea didn't spend any money. They should have served the transfer ban in 18/19. Instead, they appealed the ban and spent £220m that summer. So over the three seasons 18/19, 19/20 and 20/21 they spent £440m.

Lampard inherited one of the best squads in World football.

Benitez was a terrible appointment but I don't think we can moan about Lampard not having a striker when Benitez's terrible run coincided with both Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison being injured.

But in that season you mentioned, Lampard didnt have any money to spend did he?

If the squad was as you said, it wouldn't have finished 4th. I think Lampard also improved the points total.

Re Benitez, he like Lampard was unlucky with injuries, and Doucoure was probably his biggest loss, but Rocharlison and DCL did play games in that run, and we still lost games. DCL was never fully fit under Lampard.

Inappropriate Language
Lampard and Benitez have the exact same league points per game record as each other.

Lampard's record is 22 points from 22 games, Benitez record is 19 points from 19 games.

If you defended Benitez as vigorously as Lampard you’d be called every kopite name in the world.

Benitez was absolutely [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed] and Lampard hasn’t been much better

Lampard is not manager material, never has been and never will be. We need to cut our losses before this season gets worse and bring in a new manager. Out of the 20 managers in the PL, I would say Lampard is 19th best manager and probably only Parker from Bournemouth is inferior to Lampard. Our owners need to go in strong and find in a decent manager or we are getting relegated.
