Maybe but we usually get results in those games. We usually don't lose at home to Chelsea.

The Palace and Leicester games need to be 6 points.

And yet they're teams fighting for Europe and cups and we're coming off an almost-relegation season. Despite the past performances we're still expected to struggle against them. If we'd just lost 2-0 to Fulham then yeh sure fume, right now though people are going OTT and overestimating how far we've come over the Summer.

I agree with this. I'm not surprised we lost today but this loss hurts more because we have only won once at home. That needs to improve if we are to get to a comfortable midtable position.

The United loss was far and away worse than today.

I'd say United did.

1st half they had the lions share and chances mate so yeah I'd say thats as close as we've been to getting battered and we still nearly sneaked a point.

We're at least hanging on in games when we are under thw cosh, a lot more steel about us and that'll keep us in games longer.

First 10 minutes today, we'd have been 3 down last season.

Agreed but the way people are carrying on it's like going away to Spurs wasn't going to be rough. Most people thought we'd get tonked and it was a penalty then being punished trying to get the equaliser, we made great chances ourselves just don't have the players yet.

I guess the question is why are we on the receiving end of so many shots and what’s the quality of them….. that’s veering too close to the Xg(a) and I really cba with that! ?
Short version is: we have to take too many risks to get scoring opportunities, and we're chasing scoring opportunities because we're finishing poorly, not generating set pieces and doing nothing with the ones we get. If we could reliably net from five to seven shots, we wouldn't have to open up to chase games. We weathered some rough storms from Spurs to open both halves, only to have an error force us to get after it because we booted two top-notch chances in the first half.

The second half was bad. The first half was reasonable.
The second half was the same thing as the first but Spurs took off the player who gave the ball away and kept them from squeezing the life out of us. Our opportunities were a hit and hope and a mistake. It was awful from start to finish and at no point were we in with a chance. A truly terrible bit of management.

Not sure what to make of that / context…. Also highest interceptions per game, does this indicate our defensive unit has resulted in more pot shot from distance that were subsequently intercepted or that our defence is bad and we’ve been lucky to only concede a few ??‍♂️

I think it shows we’re letting teams come onto us too often. We’re very negative and just sit back and hope we can knick a goal.

We should have scored in the first half but the two efforts on goal were terrible. Absolutely awful to miss the target in those areas.

We were never in the game and that is disappointing. We also weren't really in it last week but Iwobi scored a screamer. Yes those teams are good I get that.

We tried to be aggressive and press Spurs about 8 months ago and got smashed 5 nil.

Our tactics are correct. Our counter attack is letting us down because the front 3 aren't good enough to play for a club of our stature.

If you can't put a team out that can compete you aren't a good enough manager simple as. Spurs are good but far far from so good that you can't have a reasonable go. It isn't City.

There is no journey, unless some unforeseen miracle occurs we are still going to be a lower/mid table club in ten years time. The gap between us and the top 6 is basically impossible to bridge without us getting some saudi style takeover and cooking the books city style. Only thing to look forward to is avoiding relegation.

Yes this is a very negative post but deep down i think most people know its likely to be true, especially when you factor in that our recruitment is still very suspect.
This is very true. Even with the new stadium it's hard to see that making enough of a positive difference. It would have if usmanov was still funding the team. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if the Same 6 teams finished top 6 for the next 10 years In a row.

And this is the main problem that needs to be dealt with because if it isn't then everything else is irrelevant
