Think the aim this season should be to try and avoid a big battle like last season, then push top 10 next season if possible which would leave us in an OK position going into the new stadium.

Don’t like being patient but with the rebuild that was needed, it’s going to be slow progress.
I think this is bang on the money.

We do appear to be moving in the right direction, but it's going to take a while and patience from us, the fans.

The Spurs game was quite a useful yardstick. I think we had a game plan which we executed well for 70 odd minutes until an individual error happened.

The second came as we were chasing the game, but they didn't natter us. There will probably be more games like that but as long as we can show steady improvement, I really think Frank could be building something here.

5 teams have come to goodison park this season

every team has had at least 12 shots at our goal

we had 4 shots against spurs

there is a problem somewhere because we are not scoring enough goals and we are letting in far too many shots at our goal as well

we might have better defenders and midfielders now but we are still not preventing shots
We have a poor forward line, so against anyone half decent the ball just goes straight back to the opposition, hence more possession and more chances against us.
It’s a pity we got that part of the recruitment wrong,

Chelsea - 1 goal from 6 on target
Forest - 1 goal from 5 on target
Liverpool - 0 goals from 8 on target
West Ham - 0 goals from 4 on target
United - 2 goals from 4 on target

4 goals conceded at home from 27 shots on target, one every 6/7 shot which shows were getting harder to score past at GP

Away from home looks like this

Villa - 2 goals from 4 on target
Brentford - 1 goal from 5 on target
Leeds - 1 goal from 5 on target
Southampton - 1 goal from 6 on target
Tottenham - 2 goals from 7 on target

7 conceded from 27 shots on target, a rate of 1 every 3/4 shot which is slightly worse

Here in the real world, we are playing football matches with Demarai Gray, Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay as a front 3. So rather than dream of where we want to be, we should really accept the reality of our situation and adjust our expectations accordingly.
Thank buddha we're better defensively and in midfield than last year, because I doubt those three are getting 20 goals between them this season.

abysmal recruitment, horrific governance, and self-satisfied incompetence mixed with venality, naked self-preservation,
Jesus - I hope it's "fully clothed self-preservation". No one wants to see blue Billy and Denise doing the birthday suit truffle shuffle. ? Trying to eat an apple crumble here, pal.

The last 2 defeats were completely avoidable, if we start getting played of the park by teams around us then that will be the time to worry.
Well said. It's not games against United or away at Spurs who tanked us 5 last time out that will decide how our season will go; it'll be whether we can beat the likes of Leics / Villa / Wolves / Saints / Fulham etc.
