My point being that expectations can change very quickly, so maybe we should not hold on to the expectations of May 2022 so tightly. Maybe we should try and break free of May 2022, and not use it as a barometer.
A 15th place finish would represent marginal ‘progress’ that would keep us in the bracket of crap teams. It would most probably involve us getting just a few more points than last season, and us being able to relax about relegation at the end of April instead of May.
Even that’s not guaranteed, if all the crap clubs are very close to each other in the league, a club in 15th place can still be cacking themselves about relegation in May.
For me, this would not be progress. It would be a continuation of being crap.
