2022/23 Frank Lampard

Was some folk on twitter saying that his contract talks have stalled because he wants £100k+ per week. No idea if that's true as it's twitter obviously, we will see over time. It might explain his frustrations in recent weeks though.
I’d wave him good bye and wish him all the best for the future rather than pay him £100k per week!

Pure delusion if you think that was really the sole reason, his predecessor had completely fractured the club from the fans, Pereira wouldn’t have brought it back as quick as Lampard has, that’s why he has backers because he took a massive gamble coming here, knowing what had gone on previous and put his all into trying to get us out of trouble and fans back onside rather than pad his wallet for an easy pay off
Not sure I'd agree it was a massive gamble for Frank - if anything, I'd say he needed us more than the other way around (there are only 20 Prem jobs and plenty of managers out there who want them). Where else would a relative rookie have gone? Few rumours about Newcastle, some talks with Norwich if I recall, links up north to Celtic, yet all came to nothing.

If it would have went wrong here, he may have left after 6 months and the narrative would have been the ship was already sinking so nothing he could do. Small gamble for his reputation maybe, but we took a big gamble on a manager whose only two previous jobs were a season at a championship club and a season at a champions league club, so who knows what is true level is.

For me, the big gamble was ours, and in relative terms, it's paid off so far and it's a good fit for both parties.

What's frustrating for me is how far we've quickly fallen and how the fix isn't easy. In an ideal world we would draw a line under last season and skip to being a mid table team very quickly. The more I see, the more I don't think that'll be possible. This season is going to be a long slog to get us into those 14th, 13th positions. Then we've got the task of kicking on from there.

For Lampard to be the manager that oversees these two transitions is a big ask. I think the first part is attainable given our current squad (who knows maybe I'm overestimating them like last year), but to progress to an upper mid table team just seems so far right now.

What did Moyes do to earn so much time? What did Martinez do? Koeman?
Moyes got 11 years because he ensured Kenwright's club was stable in the richest league in the world every year, wasn't a wild card and didn't complain about all the constraints. Considering we were "best of the rest" for a number of those years he clearly overachieved. I doubt he'd have survived half that time under Moshiri. Sacked for finishing 8th or being a bit boring I'm sure.

BS.

We've so far sacked managers who on a massive downward spiral with no clear vision (and on each and every one we delayed for at least a few months for no reason), and Ancelotti left by his own choice. None were exactly high flyers.

Sure, MoShIrI BaD, but not with that.

Moshiri would probably have given anything for a Moyes type figure. Only times he's acted is when his investment has been under threat.

I’d be interested to know if the manager and coaching team actually sees something in Mykolenkos attacking game that they expect to click into place at some point, or if they are already lining up a long term left back.

For me it’s hard for us to have any kind of progressive passing game direct or otherwise and get out of the defence easily if one of our full backs is not comfortable on the ball, and with Patterson injured that makes it two fullbacks that have to turn back almost every time, It’s a massive gap for any attacking game plan we might be trying to implement.

It will be interesting to see if we will be active in January

It's not BS if Moshiri has sacked managers who have finished mid table. More than once.

Moyes is not a glamarous enough name for Moshiri. Nowhere near the "Hollywood football" that was talked about when Moshiri arrived. Moshiri has always been swayed by a big-name appointment: Carlo an all-time great, Benitez with a CV of trophies, Koeman the playing legend etc etc. Then there's the rumours he wanted Diego Simeone, and even Pereira is known on the European stage.

I think it's very fair to say managerial appointments for stability's sake is not exactly Moshiri's primary thought.

Maybe this is where McNeil has been bought for? Although I think the stats do show that Myko is creating a decent amount of chances.

Other people have washed over this, but it is a glaring problem without Patterson in the team. Everything about Mykolenko is just a reluctance to do anything other than the bare minimum.

Regardless of what the stats show we can all see he is barely an option when we have the ball. There's a lot of stick being thrown at our front players right now but I doubt there's 3 attackers left more isolated than ours in the league.

I think he's pretty safe unless we start getting routed.

Moshiri's sackings have previously been in response to crowd unrest, and there isn't any of sign of that building at the moment.

All Moshiri will do for now is protect his investment until he can sell up. Don’t think he’s that arsed about ambition providing we can stay in the league long enough to get the stadium built and a buyer in.
