And we can stay up this year not conceding as many as those below us.

Dom is getting back now, new midfield + him is better than new striker + no midfield. No question.

Need to see him put a run of starts together, so hope to see him start next weekend. We will only find out if he can cope with the intensity of playing regularly at this level if we start him.

We've got to find a way to get the balance right and it feels like we're still a fair way from doing that at the moment. The midfield has definitely been upgraded but it's concerning that it's still struggling to really impose itself on games. I feel like we're a bit too passive at the moment, conceding too much of the ball and too many chances. It feels like we don't always give ourselves the best chance of winning. I don't know what the solution to that is though.

Give players time to play together. Onana's played 9 games in the PL, Gana was getting back up to fitness, Garner is only just ready to start. I'm still 100% sticking with this formation but my expectations are realistically low for what I think they'll give us. We can't go from last season to dominating games with a few signings. There's also more pressure on the midfield because of 3 forwards can't keep the ball and don't scare oppositions enough.

Yeah that's all fair. As I say though, we need to find a way of playing that works for us because I don't think we have yet. It's not about dominating games, but if we're going to play on the break we need to be more clinical and tighter defensively.

If think this comes when/if Dom starts games and in January when we must get 1-2 attackers. My hope for this season after the window shut with no Kudus etc. was to just get ourselves through to January away from the drop, buy, then push.

There was a 5 minute spell in the first half against spurs where we kept the ball really well and were passing it around the spurs players with ease and we had 70% possession. The ability is there so it is frustrating that they can’t keep it up for 90 mins and revert to sloppy passes and giving the ball away constantly .

Think of it as baby steps.

We are so much better than last season, relegation shouldn't even be a thought this time round.

We know there is still lots of work to be done before we can even consider ourselves a mid table side. Let's just be patient and not panic after a few defeats.

Genuinely believe Frank is building something here. With another couple of good additions in January, we could push on some more.

I know it's not fashionable in the modern world and demands for instant success, but we have to stick at it

I think we lack players with the guile and finesse to knit things together, especially in midfield (where it's most important).

The new signings are largely OK as individuals fulfilling specific, though in some cases rather limited, roles.

Teams like this need either firepower or a rock-solid defence, and I can accept that it's a lot easier to coach the latter. It's still a risky strategy, though, as it only takes one goal to send Plan A out the window when you're a defensive team.

Actually, having strong and stable base by building from the back. Nowhere near as bad as last season. Was embarrassing last season against Spurs
We certainly have competed with the scab six 6 sides we've played so far, now just have the officials in our pockets can see good things.

I think Frank is on track to build a relegation avoiding outfit which in all honesty is about as good as it gets under the Mosh regime but is it enough for Frank and more importantly enough for the majority of fans? At this stage I expect to be turned over by Utd, Spurs and any of that ilk 9 times out of 10, the challenge will come with a couple of "on the spin" bad results against others in the also-ran league.

Frank has recovered some of his rep with efforts to date so I don't think he will be short of options on the managerial merry go round. It's just a case of if it gets a bit tasty and fans do what fans do in such circumstances - ridicule him with their wangs out in the car park. Will he still see light at the end of the tunnel, or will his vision become one of morbid darkness and dread, stumbling blindly, tripping on half-chocca bricks amidst dead rats across a dank festering floor?

Carry a torch Frank just in case

Who have we sacked that finished mid table consistently though? Nothing to do with hollywood anythings - all of the managers you listed except Benitez (which was honestly bizarre) were seen as sensible, Carlo especially. Not even sure how you can say with all seriousness something negative about the Carlo appointment tbh.
Oh I definitely wasn't saying Carlo was a negative appointment. He was -and is- a world class manager and it was an unbelieveable capture to get one of the greats. If we could have kept him, I've no doubt he'd have won a trophy within a few years. He's a winner.
