It's needed, because a loss would ramp up the pressure, but I don't think he'll be sacked if we lose.

He's been here 9 months Dave, and has a net spend of about zero due to having to sell our best player. He also had to use that money to bring in how many players?

9 months he's been here Dave. The people in the street, where I come from, aren't talking about him being sacked, just yet.
No, but they can see a team that's beginning to lose its way. United and Newcastle were there for the taking by a team with confidence and a cutting edge.

The decision not to replace Richarlison was staggering for me. That's my major criticism of him. I want him to do well but he willingly tied one arm behind his back going into this season. I cant accept any manager would believe Maupay + Calvert-Lewin could keep us from harm's way. That was calamitous thinking.

The situation cant be rectified until January. That hands the owner a real decision to make if we continue to haemorrhage points in the next few games.

Safe...for now.

Can I ask you an honest question Dave, because I really do need an explanation. Why are you suddenly ignoring the fact that we have a director of football and refusing to acknowledge his existence ever?

I can see both side of that debate. Whilst Richarlison needed replacing, it was always gonna be extremely difficult to adequately replace him AND strengthen the other areas of the team.

I think McNeil was brought in for a number of factors. He's a good character; a quiet lad, who works hard. We could get him on the drip, on reasonable wages. He's young, English, and will likely have a resale value for some time. I also supported bringing him in because it would have been criminal for a club such as ourselves to not have a single left footed (wide)midfielder. Obviously it's not absolutely vital to have a left footed (wide)midfielder in the side at all times, but surely you've absolutely GOT to have that in your armoury?

5 at the back this season in 6 games v Brentford, Forest, Villa, Chelsea & Spurs = 2 points

4-3-3 in 6 games v Leeds, Liverpool, West Ham, Southampton, Man Utd & Newcastle = 8 points

He doesnt flip flop between systems though! ? I`ll let you decide which system suits us best, last season we earned far more points playing 4-3-3 than the 5 at the back, history is just repeating itself, Frank, Thelwell or both are really pushing to make this 5 at the back work but it never will at Everton, never has!

My concern last season, which many of you know I re-iterated man many times is that playing the back 5 is costing us points, it did last season and it is again this season... Get rid of it and concentrate on playing 4-3-3 every week like Newcastle have done.
Frank Lampard, just the stats.

21/22

Back 4 - 13 points from 11 games - PPG 1.18

22/23
Back 5 - 2 points from 5 games - PPG 0.40
Back 4 - 8 points from 6 games - PPG 1.33

Totals

Back 4 - 21 points from 17 games - PPG 1.24
30 Premier League points in total from 29 games - PPG 1.03

Time to bin off this 5 at the back monstrosity and create some consistency with the 4-3-3 which is statistically better....

That was exactly the point I was making, he changed things to get results, he doesn’t need to change the 4 at the back but either strengthen the midfield or attack, the frontline hasn’t been working so try something different, 2 up top or have a mid in advanced role behind them

Maybe certain peeps should show Frank some support like they did with a fat kopite waster who brought the club to its knees

True colours showing through here

This is what @ForeverBlue92 said on January 2nd:

The fans are not without blame in all of this - since Moshiri came in we've heckled and chased oot every manager thats hit a rough patch was eventually going to bite us on the arse.
