2022/23 Frank Lampard

Martinez had us bottom half with Lukaku Mirallas Barkley Barry McCarthy Stones and prime Baines Coleman. Do you think he’d get anything from this lot?
Bottom half yes but never in relegation zone
He was key to signing prime lukaku and little lungs deulofeu. But honestly deulofeu is better than anyone we have up front 100%.

This genuinely a massive week I think. Win both games and things look a bit brighter going into the break. Lose both and moshiris trigger finger is going to have a very itchy month.

I really really hope we don’t sack him because at some point we have to give someone more time, but he needs to start showing that time will help. Finding solutions to problems is what he gets paid for, he needs to start earning his money.

It’s a tough one with Frank because we obviously all like him however if there is ever two games I wanted us to go 5 at the back against its Man United and Leicester. I think he still hasn’t learned how to flip a game on its head tactically. Carlo was a master at it, especially away, get a goal, defend, win the game.

That’s a fair post. Really need to settle on a manager and support them rather than chop and change at every difficult moment. Lampard is still a novice really managerial wise and he has not been dealt the best hand resources wise. Whether he can turn it around, with appropriate support, who knows but I would prefer to give it a go rather than throw everything up in the air and start again. Done that already and look where that got us

I think it's a lot more simple than that, tbh.

It's a failure to recruit specific personnel in the summer...his 'crime' is hubris rather than flawed tactics / sending out a poor formation.

He had every intention of seeing us into the new season with DCL as our best hope of finding us the goals that we were losing as a result of Richarlison's departure, and then incredibly he doubled down on that judgement after the same player broke down in training in the summer. Presumably that was because he believed having taken moves to strengthen our defensive capabilities that we'd have enough to get ourselves to midtable safety before needing to address more firepower next summer.

He's exercised breathtakingly bad judgement in reliance on Calvert-Lewin...a judgement that barely any supporter of this club would have agreed with. This team is rotting from the head down. The lack of quality up front is reverberating through the rest of the team. Defensively pretty solid, but they cant hold the tide back forever without chances being created and taken ahead of them.

He can repent at leisure if he loses his job because of it.

The interview after yesterday's game really worried me
Excuses rather than addressing our deficiencies
He looked scared
And so am i

No not if you hire the next Lampard. What else can you do? Wait until its to late? Fire the whole squad? 12 month and 8 new players and even less points. The guy gets millions for nothing!

Well we are averaging similar points.

The thing is 3 of the last 4 managers, all different styles havent worked out. Why do we think the next one will?

He has lost his best player as well.

Ok everyone accepts we should not copy others by continuing to sack managers, but that still means we are stuck with a man who looks like a rabbit in the headlights, apparently helpless and hopeless. If you paid his immense salary, what would you do?

A tad unpalatable to some maybe but basically the above in bold

Give him more time,we have got to stick with a manager sooner rather than later what is the alternative?
We change now and we go back to square one with no guarantee that the next fella will be any better or we stick with Frank and have faith in him and Thelwell to get it right.

November was always the danger zone for Frank because the World Cup break and the impending availability of World Cup managers made it a timely opportunity for Moshiri to fall for some newly-glamorous flash-in-the-pan. So, if we lose next week and Moshiri decides he wants a change, it'll likely be a World Cup manager who tickles his fancy. A phenomenal coach in Belgium with a bit of va-va-voom glamour would tick all of Moshiri's glistening boxes.

If Frank can survive December, then I think he might hang on in there by grinding out enough wins to keep panic at bay. If he fails to do that, Sean Dyche will probably be the man he turns to.
I really fail to see the point of bringing in a manager who will sit deep, concede tons of low quality shots and have no attacking play or structure to replace a manager who already does all of those things.

I think there is a tendancy of hyping up teams around us - the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence syndrome.

Bournemouth
Fulham
Saints
Leeds
Notts Forest
Palace (who we ran rings around)
Brentford
Wolves

I wouldn't say those clubs are any better than us. The likes of Pickford, Coady, Tarks, Patterson, Iwobi would currently waltz into their teams.
Palace, Brentford and Leeds all put in decent performances more than 1 in 14 matches.
