2022/23 Frank Lampard

It’s on the owner and board in the main. The club has been a complete mess top to bottom for too long and now we’re reaping the effects of that.

Is Lampard a world beater? No. But, we need more quality in forward areas and that requires money. Gordon still not ready to take on the mantle and Gray/McNeil not good enough. We need genuinely creative wide players and maybe a 10 but do we have the budget? Doubtful.

Because we're idiots who think certain players "aren't good enough" especially last season when a player like Dan Burn is/was better than the CBs we had.

Additionally Tripper for Coleman, Myko for Target (who was thrown in the deep end) would've easily improved our defence.

Add Guimaraes who eclipsed our entire midfield and Chris Wood for a less than athletic Rondon...we'd have been out of danger fairly easily IMO.

Oh and that cost £90million alone.

Didn't we sign players in January?

I think Lampard could engineer his own demise
Supporters want to see a plan, they want to understand and buy into a style of football. I think they want to have confidence we have a plan b and even c
The depressing facts are that we are a defensive outfit who rely on long balls and set pieces
Most teams in the Prem keep the ball and try to move it about the pitch…
We set up wanting to hang on with the point we started with, we have little or no creativity and no real ability to change things

I don’t for 1 min blame him completely for this mess, in some quarters I sympathise with him

BUT

He needs to work with this team and get us playing a style of football that we can see, and we know will evolve
If he doesn’t….. history tells us what happens

Oh, you mean lampards one day of transfer window he had.

Ok, lets give him a pass on that window even though he would have been in discussions with Everton for a number of days before he signed with us.

Last season he managed us for 18 premier league games and averaged 1.11 points per game.

This season after having the summer transfer window and 14 games he is averaging a point per game.

Not sure on this.

We got into trouble because we wouldn't play to our strengths and go long more on Saturday. We passed the ball around aimlessly. I want us to be far more direct.

I'm not a big admirer of NUFC at all, especially since the takeover. But there is a small part of me that is happy for Eddie Howe after the ridiculous flak he's taken on this forum over the years.
Yeah, it's quite funny.

He was regarded as one of the worst managers in the world on here.

It was based on his Bournemouth tenure though which was fairly up/down and the football was quite risky at times. He seems to have changed his approach a bit and obviously has better players at Newcastle so fair play to him, let's see if they keep it up.

2. A loan and a "free"

Far cry from £90+mill spends

Patterson and Myko never signed? or have i imagined this??

We went quite a few windows spending a shedload of money, it doesn't guarantee success.

The loan and the free will have still cost money though. A Dutch international player from Manchester United who they signed for 40 million and England International player from Spurs who will be paid in excess of 100k per week.

Everyone was buzzing about our window at the time.
