2022/23 Frank Lampard

And then on top of that you have CBs who can't or won't step forward and compact that space. And also the wingers don't push high up either so eventually enough time and space opens for them to break the lines. A complete system failure.
Issue with the CBs is pace (or lack of) but then we can't play too deep and just look to soak pressure like we did at the start of the season and end of last because we have no quality up top.

I keep seeing people say we need to go back to how we played in April etc but the key difference is we had Richarlison. It wasn't exactly great then but we managed to eek out some results because we had genuine quality in the final third.

Wolves, Brighton, Southampton and West Ham are 4 out of the next 5 games. All huge for Lampard's future here. My biggest concern is that the team's down there with us are better this year. Even Forest, who I was sure would go straight back down, are being competitive.

Things change quickly though. Forest have started getting results after sticking with their gaffer. West Ham will turn it around.

It's not a pretty picture because no one is cut adrift yet and you need is 2 back to back wins to climb the table.

If they pulled the trigger I wouldn't be up in arms but at the same time I'd just sigh and have zero care for us as a club.

The club would be the father you still love but have no contact with because he's a drunken fool.

And yet a caretaker manager has just beat us 7-1 in the last 2 games.

We have just just played 3 games against teams that were below us and conceeded 9 goals and scored 1.

Other than Mike Walker I can't think of a worse manager for stats?
And yet despite that, the mood at the club has improved alot since FSW and there have been glimpses of real improvement.

I'm not saying it's all rosy and he is getting everything right, but I am saying if we as a club believe he is the right man then that faith should be given a proper chance.

Tell me this, what has sacking any of the last 6 managers got us?? Its led us right to this point where we are, with a team of misfits, no style or clue. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

All these people for sacking him, please someone give me a plausible rationale replacement and tell me what he's going to change that turns us in to this team we all think we have some divine right to be?

I imagine Frank is not a happy man tonight. There is nothing he can do to change anything until late December, or more probably late January if he is given money to spend.

Short memories here:

Lampard took over a mess. He kept his nerve and got us safe. The club sold Richarlison, a player he;d have wanted to retain, obvioulsy.

His biggest fault for me was being too loyal to Calvert-Lewin and not spending what we had on a couple of new strikers...something he'll have to do in January.

People need to get a grip and stop behaving like 'kin brats. This is easily recoverable. There's 23 games of the season left and we'll easily get the 26 points we need to get safe with even a half decent striker / bang average striker.

He has 9 win in 9 months. I suggest it's you who have the memory loss. You are acting like this is a new blip. He has no visible plan and has clearly lost the dressing room

The issue is the midfield, I have no idea why he's having Onana and Iwobi push so high when we have the ball, it's baffling.

That being said when it works we do look like we can cut teams down the middle, as we did a fair bit today in the first 20, but then we have nothing at the end of it.

But that's why we're so open on counters or transition or whatever you want to call it. Massive gaps.
We end up having Onana push so far up he's like a CF at times. Just because he's big? Its so stupid, its out of pure desperation for having nothing of substance up front, and it leaves us with an Onana-sized hole in the midfield. Not to mention the lad gets pelters from fans for not being able to do much with it when it just gets lumped up to him.

Lampard's record is worse than all the previous managers though.

He is a failure.

Should we have given FSW more time? Because to me thats what your claiming

That's nice! But the problems are the same, and we have a manager with far less competence.

Such as?

On what basis is he the right man?

Could it be that we repeatedly employ the wrong manager?

Sean Dyche

The next guy won't be any better and he'll get the sack after six mouths too. The reason things never get better is because nobody is given long enough to change things. Maybe Lampard isn't the man to do it but I've yet to hear who is from anyone.
1. if the next guy is crap yes he should rightfully get sacked too
2. we have a very short timeframe for things to get better because as it is we will almost certainly go down, time is not a luxury we can afford if we want to stay in this league
3. so you accept Lampard is limited but because some forum posters haven't given you a name you like (I have seen plenty, Tuchel, Gallardo, Martinez, etc), you wont entertain the thought of changing it?

There is no reward for putting up with this and going down, just to keep the manager in a job.

No it was toxic under FSW, he had to go and in fact should never have been given the job in the first place.

My argument is for Frank, he's young and learning, he's done his best to understand and integrate in to this club and they are trying to put together a squad that suits his style he can't do that in 1 window.

And in not saying the faith should be never ending, I'm just saying if we sack him now we just go around and around and never change a thing.
