Gueye is the worst "play maker" in the history of the Premier leagueWhen you have Gana as not only the deep midfielder but acting as a playmaker + coming back to pick up the ball from the defence...
...its going to be a low tempo.
Just having Onana there or Garner there instantly improves us.
'he' doesn't sign players, mate.I havent seen a side look so bad on the transition since Remi Gardes Villa team. Our midfield last 3 games has been pathetic. They offer nothing in or out of possession.
Why did he sign players who can't play the way Everton need to play? No Everton manager will ever be successful with this outdated style and it also nullifies Goodison to play such a low tempo style.
I'm not going to lie, I absolutely hate slow possession based football. It had its day about euro 2008.
You missed nothing started off OK.Could have parked the bus today, which on reading seems not even attempted. Had the fortune myself on missing this one... Lucky not at home.
I suupose it's an endoresment until it isn't. When we booted Benny Boy there was no structure at the club in place: the DOF had been sacked not long before and Moshiri was still calling all the shots, picking names out of a hat. When we sacked benitez we didn't have a replacement for ages...that would not stop the club. Silence is an endorsement of lampard as a manager for the foreseeable.
Abysmal mateI think we need to look at the performances on the field to really consider how we are, agin Bournemouth, well how would one describe that ?
For me the problem is the wingers not just their lack of ability but they play on the (unnatural) wrong side so they always go inside, that’s fine if you have fullbacks who bomb on and create width but we don’t.We’ve gone from 433 with the emphasis on the wingers to be the creative spark that commit defenders; but they don’t because they’re not very good.
To an almost 4-1-4-1 with Onana and Iwobi being asked to support Maupay, but as we witnessed against Leicester and today; one quick move is breaking our press and the 5 up top are out of the game
If he has anything about him, we’ll revert to the 5 at the back, like last season, scrape points until reinforcements are bought
I think we are passing the ball aimlessly with no purpose. We dont play between the lines or create chances so whats the point of it?'he' doesn't sign players, mate.
It's the club who sign players, and the DoF. That's how it should work.
But Gana and Onana can play like that, we've seen it at times. The midfield lacks balance and I'm of firm belief he's done it in the last few games to try and get numbers forward. That being said, he's got it badly wrong in that regard, he should have just stuck with the shape he used v Palace and Fulham.
But I don't think we're playing anything like we did under Martinez. We actually played really crisply in the first 20 mins today and found space through the lines, so it was working. We just don't have anything at the end of it.
You can't seriously look at that game and think we're playing possession-based footy for the sake of it. Teams are just happy to let us have the ball once they have a lead because they know we have zero threat - because our players are crap.
Iwobi's been great this season, but know what? He's still crap. He's still nowhere near good enough to start for half of the teams in this league as their creative fulcrum. Yet he's by far our best attacking player.
Oh we’re definitely crap. I always expected us to struggle this year, but the inability of the manager to do anything to change our fortunes is concerning at the moment. It shouldn’t be this difficult to either find a way to score goals or find a way to stop conceding them. Allowing the opposition to have infinite shots while simultaneously being unable to muster a half decent opening yourself is definitely a managerial issue. Even a non league side going to one of the big boys away in the cup is capable of getting men behind the ball, making it difficult for the opposition and causing problems on the counter or at set pieces. We don’t even seem to be able to do that at the moment.Oh absolutely, the set up in the last week in each game has been woeful and that's on Lampard.
We played a Bournemouth team who do score goals, though. They got two against Spurs and 3 at Leeds and should have had more. So I expected us to ship chances because we have done all season - and that's a worry.
However, we offer no threat going the other way, to a Bournemouth team that had conceded seven goals in their last two league games, and that's more worrying because I think if we set up more like we did earlier in the season, we can tighten things up at the back again, even if it's reducing teams to lower quality chances (last few games we've given away more high-quality chances)
I think it all boils down to our attack being dreadful and he's looking for ways to rectify that by getting numbers forward. It's not working. It could cost him his job, but the break's come at the right time.
We do have an awful side though. I'm sorry, we're crap. We're as crap as we were last year. That's on the manager, the board, the DoF and the players. But I always expected us to be in the midst of it this year. I said as much in August when we didn't buy an attacker of actual half-decent quality.
If we get one or two of those in, we have enough to be safely mid-table by March/April. If we don't, we will be scrapping until the end again.
It’s all very well trying to sign a winger and a new striker, but if the midfield can’t pass for sh!t and can’t receive a pass properly, then it’s just papering over the cracks. Gana and Onana have done nothing really this season. Gana has intercepted a lot but offers nothing creatively.
It shows how low we have sunk as a club that we are relying on players like maupay, gray, Gordon, McNeil and lewin to score goals for us. We have absolutely no chance of getting any goal-scoring consistency out of that lot.
Let’s be honest, our squad has relegation written all over it. Is there anyone with a football brain working at our club? It just seems a shambles from top to bottom.
