Ok Tim, what should he have done
Keep Onana deep like against Palace and do not leave gaps between the lines. Make sure Idrissa Gueye never comes deep to pick up possession because he is hopeless at it.

And most importantly, PLAY DIRECT.

Cut out the absolutely horrible passive slow build up football. Its only dangerous for the opposition. And its not Everton football.

Also don't make 11 changes ahead of this game and then put out a side who perform like that. I can't believe how naive he has been and I'm gutted how its all unravelled so quickly

When we’ve just conceded 7 goals in a week to a side playing kieffer Moore up front (a player who’s having his first crack at top flight football aged 30 and has spent most of his career playing league one and lower) I don’t think you can say it’s just the quality of attackers we have that means we’ve failed to score in 5 of our last 6 games and have only managed more than one in a game twice in the first 17 games of the season.
Oh absolutely, the set up in the last week in each game has been woeful and that's on Lampard.

We played a Bournemouth team who do score goals, though. They got two against Spurs and 3 at Leeds and should have had more. So I expected us to ship chances because we have done all season - and that's a worry.

However, we offer no threat going the other way, to a Bournemouth team that had conceded seven goals in their last two league games, and that's more worrying because I think if we set up more like we did earlier in the season, we can tighten things up at the back again, even if it's reducing teams to lower quality chances (last few games we've given away more high-quality chances)

I think it all boils down to our attack being dreadful and he's looking for ways to rectify that by getting numbers forward. It's not working. It could cost him his job, but the break's come at the right time.

We do have an awful side though. I'm sorry, we're crap. We're as crap as we were last year. That's on the manager, the board, the DoF and the players. But I always expected us to be in the midst of it this year. I said as much in August when we didn't buy an attacker of actual half-decent quality.

If we get one or two of those in, we have enough to be safely mid-table by March/April. If we don't, we will be scrapping until the end again.

We can’t play direct with Maupay up top mate

You can't play direct to Maupay, Gray and McNeil though and expect results, which is why he's pushing Onana on.

But then we're getting stuck between a rock and a hard place because, as you rightly say, there's gaps everywhere.

I don’t think we can play direct with Neal Maupay up top, if we had actual good wingers who could commit defenders then I’d agree, and hit them on the break and hard.

I may be wrong but the last couple of sacking happened only a few hours after their last games...if there is nothing tonight he will be in charge for wolves at home.
Villa knew who they wanted when they booted Slippy. Saints knew who they wanted when they booted Ralph. Decisions were already taken behind the scenes before those announcements were made. There is nothing to suggest that is the case with us (as I said, the club may still be behind him 100%).

There is an unprecidented 6 week, mid season break until our next game. A lot can -and will- happen at a number of clubs between now and Boxing Day. 9pm November 12th is far from the deadline to say who will and wont be in what jobs 6 weeks from now.

I havent seen a side look so bad on the transition since Remi Gardes Villa team. Our midfield last 3 games has been pathetic. They offer nothing in or out of possession.

Why did he sign players who can't play the way Everton need to play? No Everton manager will ever be successful with this outdated style and it also nullifies Goodison to play such a low tempo style.

I'm not going to lie, I absolutely hate slow possession based football. It had its day about euro 2008.

Well the manager and Thelwell should have considered that before spending 30m + on championship level attackers who can't score.

We will never be successful with slow passive football. Goodison will rightly never stand for it because it's a load of garbage

When we sacked benitez we didn't have a replacement for ages...that would not stop the club. Silence is an endorsement of lampard as a manager for the foreseeable.

We’ve gone from 433 with the emphasis on the wingers to be the creative spark that commit defenders; but they don’t because they’re not very good.

To an almost 4-1-4-1 with Onana and Iwobi being asked to support Maupay, but as we witnessed against Leicester and today; one quick move is breaking our press and the 5 up top are out of the game

If he has anything about him, we’ll revert to the 5 at the back, like last season, scrape points until reinforcements are bought

When you have Gana as not only the deep midfielder but acting as a playmaker + coming back to pick up the ball from the defence...

...its going to be a low tempo.

Just having Onana there or Garner there instantly improves us.

1. if the next guy is crap yes he should rightfully get sacked too
Then the people really responsible for this (the players) will win again.
2. we have a very short timeframe for things to get better because as it is we will almost certainly go down, time is not a luxury we can afford if we want to stay in this league
We'll have an even shorter one with an entirely new and equally poor boss (because let's be honest, no decent manager is going to touch us). Us going down is inevitable if we keep demanding that every manager gets sacked because we'll be stuck with the same group of players dragging the club down. Relegation is a matter of when, not if, if we keep backing the players over the manager (because that's what sackings manager's amounts to).
3. so you accept Lampard is limited but because some forum posters haven't given you a name you like (I have seen plenty, Tuchel, Gallardo, Martinez, etc), you wont entertain the thought of changing it?
Lampard is very limited. But no more limited them any of the other options you name that you will be chasing out of the club six to eight mouths into their tenure.
There is no reward for putting up with this and going down, just to keep the manager in a job.
There is, but some of our fans will never allow us to get to the point where we can benefit from it because it would require patience. This team will take us down. Its a matter of when, not if. It doesn't matter who we have as manager, this team is taking us down. Maybe its this season, maybe its next, hell maybe its a couple of years from now but it will take us down. The only chance we stand of avoiding the drop and further drops is if we have a manager that can build somthing at this club. Maybe that manager isn't Lampard. I don't know. I just know that our chances of finding that man go down every time we sack a manager less then a year into the job.

Yes, we said it in the summer when everyone was jizzing themselves. It was criminal that Kevin Thelwell let us go into a season with Gray Gordon and McNeil as our strikers.

47 goals between them in their entire career
