I think the writing is on the wall regarding formation/systems, there is no doubt in my mind that Thelwell was brought in to re-create the club as using the back 5 model, he even wrote the book!

Frank likes the system so they are aligned and there is no way he will be changing this season IMO, only 1 issue though, IT DOESNT WORK unless like Chelsea and Spurs with 100s of millions to buy genuine world class players. We don`t have them players and we cant afford them, this season only Chelsea and Spurs will be using this system along with us. Brighton and Wolves binning it off to go forward and we should too....

IF this is the way the club is going I believe Thelwell isn`t the man to take Everton forward and if we cant get results neither is Frank. We seen last season playing a back 5 we conceded, EXACTLY the same this season. We also seen playing the back 5 we cant score, EXACTLY what we are seeing this season UNITIL we went to 4-2-3-1 on 80 mins and we took Villa to the cleaners, 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 is the way forward.

Had we used a back 4 v Chelsea and Villa I would confidently say we wouldn`t be sat here with no points.

If Frank continues with the 5 the only thing I can see happening is him getting sacked by Xmas, IT DOESNT WORK!

No matter what it’s Frank decision on whether to sell Gordon or not. He is building his team and he has a free pass for me as long as we stay up this season.

Dave he might not like it but if the offer is good enough to bring some more depth in then he’ll agree to it

Benitez straight up sold Digne because he fell out with him and had no DoF to say ‘hang on we have no cover, let me sort one before you jump in’
Sell Richarlison and Gordon and get Adam and McNeil in and a divvie Kopite on loan.

Great strategy.

It was clear as day what I said: I'm not for pitchforking him, but he's done for me as a manager I can support if this sale happens.

Simple and clear and consistent.
Haha how you communicate with this forum and how you THINK you communicate with this forum is very different.

Though I'll admit you are very consistent.

That's completely naive.

They fired a warning shot on that one early on in the window.

They just backloaded it to the final week or two of this window.

And if he goes he'll agree to it, but it will be on the basis that the club need the cash and the manager will persuade him that Chelsea is his route to England and CL football. This isn;t about Gordon. Dont let them sell another and fall for the whiff of Judas they'll spin it with. That's been done many times before. It's all nabout Everton selling to buy...selling very good players to buy a load of tat.

I just think the fact we’ve received an official bid for him means that his agent has already been doing the rounds. Clubs don’t often throw speculative bids at players without going through the back channels first to see if it would be welcome. All Gordon’s agent had to do was say ‘my client is happy at Everton and won’t be moving this summer’ and then this is probably nipped in the bud. If Chelsea then bid after that then Anthony could come out and say he wants to stay here. The radio silence plus an official bid of such a large amount makes me think that Gordon’s team had been working on this for a while.

Tarkowski, Coady and Onana are good signings.

I don’t want Richy leaves but he wanted to.

Gordon out means we would strength the squad by signing 3 attacking players.

Honestly shocked it took Dave this long to turn.
No turn.

I just dont support this manager now. I hope he makes us safe and neventually successful. Althiugh I dont see either happening. Not when he sells our best players and buys Chamopionship tat with the proceeds.

It doesn't work that way, you know that.

Everton and Kenwright are masters of this. They make it plain to a young talent they have to go to balance the books or in this case PPF. It's a fait accompli.

The player is Everton daft. But if the club are telling him its time to go, he'll go...just like all the others.

This is the pre-Moshiri days back again.

I think people just need to calm down a bit

As you say it’s been a decent start for those three players. A bit tougher for McNeill but two poor games doesn’t make him a tat signing. Vinagre we’ve not seen much of. Players need time to adapt and settle.

Hopefully we can finish off the window with another striker signing and Gueye joining. If Gordon goes it might be a bit livelier but we’ve lost top players before and we’ve always found replacements.

Not sure even Everton would leave it this late in the window. Richarlison was out early doors, everyone knew what the deal was there. Why would we wait until the season started to sell Gordon if we had to? Why would we be playing him and risking injury if his sale was essential for our books? Why would we leave ourselves with no time to get replacements?

I don’t normally give the club the benefit of the doubt on anything but I just can’t see them behind this one. This stinks of massively over a manitou is young player getting a high opinion of himself and not wanting to put in another season of hard yards at the bottom end of the prem.

I would say everyone has a price. We have to sell Richy who was a player I admire and believe he was our main threat up front.

So you're admitting this is an EVERTON problem and nothing to do with Lampard.

Got it.

It's essential to Lampard wanting a striker in. I believe if DCL stays fit maybe the trigger isn't pulled on this. But the club dont have the cash to stay in PPF limits and buy another striker AND a CM...which may be why Gueye is still in a holding pattern.

The kid is beng sacrfificed for those two positions needing to be filled.

It's Lampard's job to manage the resources all told, and wasting cash on McNeil and Vinagre has been costly.

Absolutely ludicrous that you blame the manager for selling players when he works under an owner, board and DOF.

You've never supported Lampard. You've been talking about non-existent opposition to him from day 1 and were saying he was one game from the sack as early as April last season.
