The fact he doesn't want to come might cover it.Important caveat here.
None of us really know what's happening/happened.
Ancelotti wanted him though, so if Brands can't make it happen, let's hope there was a good reason and one that Ancelotti accepts.
It’s those pesky details...The fact he doesn't want to come might cover it.

This feels very Yerry Mina again - hopefully this time the club move on before allowing agents/players to dictate right to the window. The season starts again next month...
The harsh reality is 12th placed Everton who had Sam Allardyce as their manager in recent times and haven't won a pot in the players lifetime aren't the most attractive of propositions.
We have to get in there early - the reports that are as trustworthy as you can get tell us we did but we messed the lad about back in April.

Not arsed about losing out on him as I know nothing about him. Would seriously question the logic of going from a 22 year old left footed defender to a right footed 28 year old journeyman CB for almost the same money if that occurs tho..
To be honest, we're in a bit of a dilemma here.I don't blame him for trying to lower fees. In fact I want to see us changing our spending and refusing to pay over the odds for average players.
The one thing I don't get is the idea that prices would fall because of coronavirus. The amount of money available to buy may be reduced for clubs, but that in no way means selling clubs will reduce fees. It's a sellers market. I don't understand the logic of assuming that prices will drop.
I hope we are more assertive in tying up the deals needed in more important positions. We will still have to spend reasonable amounts to get the right players.
I do find it equally funny and sad how people take rumours - which may well be complete fabrications - as gospel and get so upset and riled up if it doesnt come to reality, then use it as a stick to beat the club with.Different story if he was set so sign, and the club turned away to revisit the fee in the summer and we lost the opportunity? Yeah, perhaps those pesky details that you, nor I, have any clue on. Perhaps Ancelotti gave the club a very early heads up to get him in before Napoli do so for Koulibaly replacement (on Ancelotti's instruction).
So again for clarity.
Important caveat here.

OK, what's your take on Gabriel.? Are you in the we must sign him whatever it takes and if we don't it's the end of the club camp?. Or are you in the it would be nice if we sign him, but no worries if we don't as we have other more important area's that need sorting out?Perhaps. Or I suppose our definitions of “absolute sense” may differ wildly.
you do realise we had agree a larger fee before Covid dont you?

Spot on mate. Good postTo be honest, we're in a bit of a dilemma here.
We don't have European football to offer, and potential new signings will also look at our league position and see that we struggled. Plus, although some people on here would have you believe half these foreign players wouldn't have even heard of Everton, the Premier League is extremely popular around the world, and even the most positive of Evertonians would have to concede that we were absolutely dismal in all of our televised games post lockdown.
So I think it's fair to say that if we are going to attract to the sort of player who will improve our squad, we will most probably have to pay over the odds in regard to both transfer fees and wages.
Bottom line is that I fully agree with you that we need to carefully manage what we spend on new signings, and that we don't go too much above what we'd prefer to pay. But we also need to have a degree of flexibility too. I would rather spend over the top on two players who will improve our starting XI, than pay mediocre on four average players that don't.
The problem this management team have is that previously we paid top money on average players, and that has been a massive hinderance to our rebuilding project as they've proven impossible to shift other than in short term loans.
It was a joke mate, a throwaway line.Different story if he was set to sign, and the club turned away to revisit the fee in the summer and we lost the opportunity?
