If you was in the process of buying an expensive house that was going to be a hefty mortgage and you were told you were facing redundancy in the coming weeks - would you really plough ahead with the purchase?

I find the excuse of we pulled out of a deal over financial uncertainty to be rubbish.

Brands tried to renegotiate to save a few quid (down to the pandemic yes) and it backfired - it wasnt some noble or essential act to save the club from financial trouble.

If Marcel Brands was called Mark Smith you all would have chased him out months ago.

Same way if Marco Silva had been called Martin Sampson he would have been fired out of a cannon alot quicker than he was.

Amazing what a sexy foreign name and a bit of success in a sub par league can do for you in the eyes of Evertons owners and fanbase.

Honestly, posters using a virus excuse is mindblowing.

Anyone would think all businesses had closed down.

Funny thing is the owner of the club has made a fortune from it.

Its just more posturing from the usual suspects desperate to save face because we've cocked up a transfer for a player we all wanted.

Its like selling Lukaku and claiming he wasnt that good and we could just spread the goals around.

I've been fair with Brands in that I've given him this summer in my eyes before making a final judgement - but with just over 3 weeks away before the new season starts with no signings and 2 of our main targets having gone elswhere my faith has started to diminish.

I have never seen him play. I'm not in the slightest bit bothered if we sign him or not.

I suspect others are in the same situation.
 
I'd certainly like him to sign but if we lose out to Arsenal or Napoli then I'm fine with that.

We are utterly crap with one beautiful feature currently and that is Ancelotti. I think he'll have a pull but also players aren't stupid, we've been horse manure for years and if your looking to win trophies then Everton are bottom of the list.

Whether we sign him or not, I'd still like to flog Keane or Mina and bring a more athletic centre half in to partner Holgate.

I think we'd all like an athletic CB over both of them, but i think if Money is tight, we have to ask, could we wait another year or 6 months before doing so? It's not ideal but the answer is probably yes.

Alot will happen between now and the end of the "summer" and lets just see where we are come the end of the window.

Let's assume this is right, when is the contract signed? When is it valid from? Why would any agent worth his salt allow his client to sign ahead of time when any number of things could happen? Why would any club spend £25m on a player who could get a career ended injury in the following months, or god forbid, something happened like Emiliano Sala? There were legal wranglings over that and he had just agreed the deal that day.

So in saying there is no signing window, only a registration window, you might be technically right. But I would be surprised if many of these deals actually happen.

Yep, I'm happy for them to keep Branthwaite as an option and give Lewis Gibson some minutes over pre season as well.
