Transfer Rumour Gabriel (Lille)

As I am at work and can't be bothered trawling back through loads of pages, can someone clear up for me where it says that he has signed for Arsenal? Can't see any reliable source stating it as fact but the posters on here seem to think that he has.

I was never that hopeful of getting him anyway, but where does it say he has signed? Genuine question.

Not confirmed anywhere mate.

Usual suspects are pushing speculation as being gospel because it suits their agenda.

That's not to say it won't happen, but its far from confirmed

Yes

King
Hunter
Echo
Numerous sources of fans on here

But lets pretend that never happened because he's now jibbed us off...
None of those are legitimate, especially the 'sources' on here (including you or not!). The echo have spun a different story every day to generate clicks. Others have reported our interest but not an agreement.

Nothing I've seen suggested he was 'within our grasp' then, anymore than he is now.

Agree mate however this should have been done and dusted before others got involved - Arsenal were definitely not interested back in February and if you believe the likes of King, Hunter then a £25 million fee was agreed before the pandemic hit.

So essentially we've lost out on a player over £3 million - we could get that selling Besic in the window...

This is too simplistic. I'm not sure how easy it is to wrap up transfers in the winter before a summer transfer. Maybe make progress but getting things to a contractually obliging point seems difficult. Doesn't happen that often from my recollection of transfers

Would have been in Lille and Gabriel's interest to wait until the summer (without Covid-19) to try and entice more clubs and a bigger fee. Lille haven't got a bigger fee (mainly due to an unexpected global pandemic) but Gabriel has given himself the chance of more choice of clubs/locations to live/European football etc..

Believed... I thought this was a certainty?

And agreeing a fee and having a medical are parts of the negotiation process along with personal terms, have we ever agreed those?

Also the difference is £3m, but we'd be spending £25m (plus wages) on a player. So to say 'we missed out on the basis of £3m' is not really correct is it.

This is some top spin right here.

£22 Million to Arsenal, looks like they’ve got it over the line without messing about, despite their head of football leaving.
He's signed for Arsenal a 100 times in the past week. Napoli the week before and he'd signed for us in February before Brands went back to Lille with a renegotiated offer of £4m + Pennington + a pack of Everton branded facemasks.

Hmmm..... the alternative plans were Rojo and Iwobi last season.

Let's see.

Or Brand's believed in Holgate.

As ITK’s told us not long after he arrived and as Holgate has now confirmed.

Brands took him under his wing and really helped bring him on.

Let's face it if you were a young world at your feet footballer were would you pick. Everton who haven't won silverwear in 25yrs or Arsenal in London cosmopolitan capital city and winners.

I have no idea how Finch Farm compares but I've not seen it mentioned how important the quality of a clubs training ground could be to potential new signings?
