Would 100% sell Mina over Keane.
We went with three CB’s this season but we were light.
If he isn’t no 4 then we have to sign someone which will block his progress, or loan someone (who comes on loan to be fourth choice).
Also, I’m not sure about the loan system. Some of the loan moves have been disastrous and put players back.
Ross Barkley’s loans were dreadful.
I guess it all comes down to budget and priorities. We have a lot of business to do, and my feeling is we could go with the four we have at CB and use the money on CM RB and RW. (Unless we replace one of Mina or Keane).18 is very very young for a CB tho.
If we bring in Gabriel for example to play with Holgate and have Keane and Mina as the very able back-ups / rotation options i would be alright with that.
For every Barkley loan there is a Holgate West Brom loan. Absolutely made him that did

We definitely can’t go into another season with the midfield and wide options that we have. So unless there is loads of money, I think there are more pressing needs.
I think we also need another CF. If we got an injury there were in trouble.
I agree mostly with your post Bluestar, the only downside I can see is if he doesn’t get much game time for the first team he will learn next to nothing playing with the U23’s.Exactly. A loan would be wrong. He has shown he is good enough for the first team. Why send him out?
We would only have to go and get another player in.
He shouldbe named in the first team as one of the four CB’s.
I think we’ve been pretty timid with our use of the academy players. When gaps appear we have preferred to use existing squad players out of position no matter how bad rather than promote youth.
If therdd red is one thing these last few weeks have shown, if a player is good enough, he’s old enough. As a result we have Branthwaite and Gordon as good first team options.
I guess that’s the judgement call that Carlo has to make.I agree mostly with your post Bluestar, the only downside I can see is if he doesn’t get much game time for the first team he will learn next to nothing playing with the U23’s.

He is the future, to go on loan will mess that up. I can see our CBs being him and Holgate.
In 5 years or so definitely.
Think we need to be careful tho not to get too carried away after just 2 performances
Not that long. Look at Rooney's games and his age when he started.
Gibson has just turned 20.Can’t be pinning out defensive hopes on a 18 year old, he’s got lots to learn and it wouldn’t be fair on him.
If we get Gabriel I would loan him out to a Championship Club who will offer him constant playing time and a team who sets up similarly to us, well how we hope we will play when Carlo sorts us out.
If not sell Keane as he’s English and has parts of him game he really does excel at and would suit a team who plays a deeper line.
OK maybe 3 years.
Playing CB as a teenager is very different from playing as an attacking player at that age.
There are very few teenage CBs in the prem.
He has got the size and build already tho, so that could make him a bit of a one off like Rooney was in that sense
Rooney was a once in a generation talent (and as others have said, wasn't a centre half)Not that long. Look at Rooney's games and his age when he started.
Gibson has just turned 20.
I feel he will be in the mix for us next season.
