Gardeners world last night started of with Poppies @roydo - BBC 2 they looked huge - he obviously has the luxury of stating them off in a greenhouse ,,,,

Ever thought of making a small polythene cold frame ?

If some Turkish fellas ever ask you to grow lots of Poppies for them Joey, I`d politely decline if I was you.

I also advise you to re watch the film, Midnight Express, to get a " feel " for Turkish jails.

Smacks of jealousy this tbh

This is the time of the year to take shrub cuttings with an heel, ie take a piece of the semi ripe wood away from the leaf axle using a razor blade & trim the heel up, so the cambium cells are showing place the cuttings in a open mixture in the shade place them down a side of a 9 cm pot and spray daily .... root in about 6 weeks most shrubs will root easily this way ......

I'm not 100% on the outdoor growing cycle in the US but if they are already a few months old you probably want to get them in the ground fairly soon if you are looking at an Autumn harvest. Obviously it's strain dependent but flowering outside always takes a bit longer than indoors (id guess for you probably about 10-12 weeks) Get some Neem oil to keep the bugs away and given that you have the luxury of being in the US id invest in some Fox Farm organic nutrients, their stuff is very good for growing any fruit/veg/weed, we can't get it over in the UK unless you buy online at exorbitant prices.
You are lucky being in the US Sassy, the last time I did an outdoor grow I had to start it around the back end of May and it was'nt ready till October and it was a constant fight to keep the rabbits and deer away.
Hey @Simon Buttle I got some of the nutrients you recommended and my girls are looking fine. No bugs or mites have gotten to them either so Hopefully they will give me a nice crop.

@Sassy Colombian Hey there, I am glad you managed to get hold of some Fox Farm nutes, you won't regret it (they should work on your veggies also) Your plants are looking like they are starting to get going, although something has had a nibble at that one in the bottom picture. I hope it all works out for you keep posting pics, the little placard you have SH8 is that some sort of Silver Haze phenotype? or is it some sort of mad Sour Diesel x Haze cross?

@Joey66 why are my spring bulbs all greenery and no flower
Did you cut them back too soon after flowering last year? Or check for wire worm they eat the Bulb - or if it has been to dry that may be a reason - if you have cut them back last season far too soon without cutting the flower stalk of, that may be the problem or you just cut the down not letting the food die back into the bulb ;)

Ta mate.
Given this spring is a write off for flowers, whats the best plan of action...or should that be inaction and when would be a good time to move them.

Dig the clumps up & plant them individual discarding the smaller bulbs if you don't need the keep the best plant the rest in your autumn period down under they will grow naturally back into clumps in time, but flowering more you can plant the close together but individually as a bulb .......

Great time to collect hardy perennial seed place in envelope - write name of plant fold over airtight - - one week later when the seed is dray gently break the seed pods up in envelops - then poor the seed onto an open page of newspaper - you can sow directly into a seed tray or small plug tray water the multi-purpose compost first - cover lightly or surface sow spraying daily cover the tray with newspaper fresh seed like this will germinate more plus quickly prick out into plugs to grow on in the autumn -

@roydo you can do this with your favourite plants in your wild flowering garden then replant in areas of gaps the following year late April /May ..... they will establish quickly insert them with a bulb planter tool for ease in planting & less disturbance & quick establishment e.g. poppy seed will establish quicker if sown now in this way, plus flower earlier if yours have not flowered get some seed of e bay etchttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392861539897?hash=item5b785f5e39:g:iroAAOSwhbZfAFn2 ..... & sow straight away .......
