HAHA Sarcasm rules Eh? You miss the point he is 32 what kind of contract should he be given and will he tak a big wage cut and I still say not good enough. Best deal swap him for Osman.

If has you seem to think he is so good why is he not playing regularly for City?

Lad...they've played one game this season, and with a midfield two of Fernandinho and Yaya Touré it's no surprise he didn't play.

He's played 175 games in total for them over four years.

He will never make the world cup squad. Decent move? just get in the way of young players coming on board.
We do not have any young players for the DM role who are ready for first team action; nor can we afford any young DM players who would be good enough to get a lot of playing time this year.

Yes it'd be nice if we could buy a 22 year old who was as good as Barry (or close enough) but that is sadly not our reality. Barry is probably the best player we could realistically get in for this season to give us some cover in a position of very strong need now (and of massive need if Fellaini is sold).

Don't know how you figure that one out, they play entirely different roles.

If anything, he'd be the obstacle for Osman and Gibson before Barkley.

Moyes isn't our manager anymore; I honestly believe the days of Neville/Heitinga partnerships in midfield are over.

Lord above. I keep trying to force myself to forget that happened.

£100k approx per week.

It's not relevant though as obviously we won't be paying anything near that.

Would it not be relevant that he might opt to stay on the bench picking that coin up rather than move to us for less ?

Sorry but haven been checking how this rumour is going, can't see it being all that bad of a move if it doesn't cost us too much.

I'd take Barry chuckle if it meant no more osman losing the ball every 5 mins.

Sensible addition, adds experience and beefs up the midfield.

Gibson is great but too injury prone, osman total gash and Ross
Is still learning.

If he was in his mid-20's, this would be a positive. However, he's 32 so it's actually a massive negative: we're talking about a player who was never even moderately quick to start with, who is older than Osman, who has played a LOT of games in the last couple years. His pace is going to disappear totally, and it's going to happen soon. Look at Kone for instance - he doesn't look anywhere near as a rapid now as he did even a year ago. The loss of pace in athletes from ANY sport as they approach their mid-30s is well documented.

"Pace isn't everything" I hear you cry, and I don't entirely disagree with you. But Barry is also not especially technically proficient - I would go as far as to say that were it not for Owen Hargreaves' horrific injury record, Barry would never have got more than 5 or 6 England caps. He's just not that good.... there's a reason City have replaced him.

Measuring him up against what we have, I'd say Barry's not as good as Gibson or Felli at DM, nor as good as Felli at CM. He can't play ACM or wide midfield, so we'd be bringing him in as Gibbo's and Felli's backup: if we can get him on loan at a reasonable wage, say £30k a week, then fine. But otherwise I would rather not. I certainly don't want to pay any sort of fee for him, even if Felli goes. In THAT scenario, I would rather we spent £12m on McCarthy or £5m on Diame than £2m on Barry. Alternatively, we could be trying to get De Guzman from Villareal or Schneiderlin from Southampton if Felli goes - again, both would be better than Barry.

That's not really a fair comparison when you consider that Kone is African and therefore will be approximately 18 years older than his birth certificate says.

Wouldn't be a bad move imo, as long as it's a loan and some of the wages are covered. If it's a loan, that removes the biggest question mark about him-age and declining skills.

Not to mention we haven´t even seen him fully fed yet.

And for the record, footballers start losing their legs at 33-35. Kone has just turned 30.
