Needs to play further forwards though a massive gap in the middle of our midfield today!

There was a huge gap mate totally agree but I think that was more to do with McCarthy Deffo being told to push further forward. No where near as close as they usually are and in a way it was a problem where they could pick a pass in the middle but in another way it worked. Barry deep means he can see all in front of him, cb's right behind him so can't get turned as he has cover and in turn is covering the area just in front of the cb's where they have struggled. I've absolutely slated him this season, I thought he was solid today, kept it simple and tried to move the ball a lot quicker than normal.

MOTD - revue of RB isolated in midfield needed more help, and guidance off Barry ! As I stated standing in front of our centre halfs smoking a cigar is useless for us watch Gibson when he plays he dominates the centre of the park and goes back when needed if he is higher up the pitch he can support the midfield like he did last season he just plays as a third centre half imo does Barry!

I didn't see him smoking a cigar mate and of he did well yes that sets a bad example to Ross. In all seriousness though mate I know what your saying about Gibson, just one problem with that is that he wasn't available. Perhaps Besic and McCarthy can be tried for a few games though I think Martinez genuinely fancies Barry and loves to see him turning like a tug boat in the middle of the park

RB cover/help was always McCarthy's job (with Barry covering/helping out Baines). Barry can't cover both sides at once, he barely has the speed to cover one side.
I wish people would make up their minds about McCarthy. Since he joined many posters have been moan that despite his workrate and tidying up, that he should get forward more, become a box to box midfielder and add some goals to his game. Today he got forward as suggested, and they are moaning about Coleman being left isolated, I suppose with the emergence of Lennon and his ability to get up and down the pitch it might be argued that we've gone a little more traditional and covering Coleman is now Lennon's job, but when we get some joy down that side of the pitch, both of them should be attacking which leaves the gap that's hard to recover position from quickly. I'm guessing that McCarthy and Coleman had new, different criteria to when they're to get forward and who's covering that takes into account what Lennon is being expected to do and they were facing a good quick attacking LB. I'm also guessing that these rules are quite new and are either still being tweaked for all three or one or more forgets what they are supposed to be doing occasionally and end up being caught out enough that one of them ends up struggling to recover position quickly enough.

Lost the ball in dangerous parts an didn't really do much first half but second half won quite a few tackles an broke up play so he gets a pass for now

Barry this season is no where near the player he was last season for us MaCarthy has been hit, and miss - Barkley has suffered our midfield yesterday was over run gaping holes in it Osman is not a 90 min player nor a left winger- we won ugly we have played better and got beat, but three points is a win which we needed!

Barry reckons he has played more than Martinez wanted him to because on injuries to other players http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/gareth-barry-says-everton-injury-8987459
Reading that, the lad's not soft and to be honest, at his stage of career, if the manager picks you, you're never saying 'no actually boss'.

He mentions not being able to manage 3 games a week and he must know his form has dipped.

I like the lad, I wish he'd go back to last seasons form but we can say that about the whole team. No need for the scapegoating of solely him that happened earlier on in the season. They were all to blame.
