I think he would make a better left back than centre back, quality player but has a tendency to make a few lunging tackles and goes to ground a bit.... That's ace as a midfielder, it's a quality you need to get stuck in but as a centre half you need to be a be a little bit cleverer and chose when to make a challenge rather than jump in and risk giving away cheap free kicks around the edge of your box or penno' s even. Still, he is a very very good player.

He'll be running like he's in treacle at 35. No place in the prem for CM's that age.

...he's never had pace, though. I remember one of his first games (might've been his debut) at Goodison for Villa. He was only about 17 and played centre back against Duncan. The game finished 0-0 and he was outstanding. Not a bad shout having him as a contingency centre back.

Hopefully we give him a 1 year deal on a freebie.

He did well at LB today even up against someone much quicker We missed him in the middle though

He's are counter to Gerrard. Real presence. I thought he was going to throttle that scruffy [Poor language removed] physio today. Barry defo got in Dowd's head there today.

Bout time we had a mouth on the pitch.

Neville would have got the red card out his arse pocket for him

Neville used to talk to refs with zero effect. Barry has more weight it seems. He's on the spot in an instant telling refs what they *really* saw and that's exactly what Eddie Munster has done for them for years.

Spot on

Every team needs a mouth piece, Chelsea have Lampard/Terry the RS had Carra/Gerrard we had Neville/Osman
