Would be a brilliant signing for the likes of West Ham. Barry would serve them as temporary damage control and help keep them top flight for their inaugural season in the new stadium. Couldn't see him joining that sideshow though.
 
Theoretically, If they offer £10k a week more than we would on a 2 yr contract then £1m extra. He'll have a decision to make!
 

I cant think of many others in the league who can do the job he did so well for last season. I think he has to be a priority signing for us.

Who else is there whos proven in that role? Carrick? Sandro? Schneiderlin perhaps?

Barry, on a free, 2 year deal with a 3rd year triggered after appearences is a no brainer to me

When you say proven, how far do you to quantify that? Medel played there for Cardiff so he is proven but ultimately they got relegated. Rodwell can play there but not sure I would go for him. Can see why people are supposedly after Barry. Only team I can see him signing for apart from us would be Arsenal. West Ham and Leicester?? WTF ?

to be honest I would agree and chuck Medel in there. By proven I mean has played DM on a consistent basis and is a specialist there in terms of attributes.

I just think players of Barrys ilk are hard to find, and so to have the chance to get him in for free after such a successful year is a no brainer.

Yeah concur. I initially baulked at the thought of Rodwell back here but then in the cold light of day realised that he had a monumental task getting into that Citeh midfield, as did Barry. No mean feet trying to oust Yaya or Fernandinho. Barry on a free with Rodwell his understudy would be a shrude move, with Gibbo fit again and obviously the Ginger Iniesta in there too !

To be able to coach and bring more from Barkley & McCarthy, he is priceless. I never realised what a cultured player Barry was.
