Gareth Barry

I just can't see him wanting to go anywhere else other than back here. His age etc...playing time becomes more important than an extra 10k a week.

I'd imagine RM and Barry are pretty certain already about what's going to happen and he's off having a good Holliday before sorting on his return!

Ive always expected him to sign because it must surely be about playing than money when you have had the contract hes had.

Id happily sign him for 2 years. But if he hold us to ransom let him play for someone else.

At this stage of his career it should be about being happy and playing. Hes just had his best season in years. If he wants to walk away from that then id let him

He'll go where the money is greatest, don't believe this nonsense that just because he came here on loan we have any hold over his decision. He owes us nothing and this decision he's got will be based purely on finances and sentiment or anything else won't even be considered, and really that's fair enough. It will likely be his last long term contract and he has to do whats best for himself and his family.

In the premier league, he can only go to Arsenal/Spurs/ or Us - if he wants European football. If he is a money grabber, then he will go to West Ham. Wish they would sort this out one way or another.

Arsenal reports seem like regular agent crap to attract interest in his client. You just know that Wenger is going to get emotional and sign back Cesc for £35m. Another striker and winger will leave no money for Arsenal to give Barry a big contract.

Will Levy sign a 33 year old with no resale value? Don't they have another 100 defensive players already?

Last year was a typical contract year performance. Would be more than happy if he signed for another club in search of a last big contract. Everton would be better off signing a younger player.

He and his family can live like kings on what he's earned already. To base his decision purely on finances would be doing himself a disservice IMO.

Barry won't be off to Spurs. They have too many players already and Levy is a bell who loves his money. Barry isn't the best financial option for him. I don't even think they're interested in him, they're just getting linked with the same players we are because the media are crap. (same as Newcastle).

Arsenal are possible but I don't see them offering as much as we have offered him.

That leaves us or West Ham and, let's be honest, he isn't going to West Ham.

Id much rather be looking for a younger player circa 23/24 and then sign barry for europa league and covering suspension, injuries and squad rotation in the prem when it gets tricky around xmas etc.

Gibson should be back next season but his legs are made of glass and you cant expect you will ever get a full six months out of him so we need to be looking for a permanent signing really.

CF is still our main priority though. Its crap being so skint. Takes so much longer to get your teams together without some massive luck on a cheap signing.

I doubt that money is the main factor in his decision making process. He has already made a fortune and if he stays at Everton will continue to be paid an astronomical wage(assume65k per week). If he goes elsewhere he may be paid some extra money and will have to uproot his family or else leave them behind .
He has fitted in perfectly at Everton and plays every week , that may or may not happen at another club and at his age he cannot afford to sit on the bench every week.
Is playing CL football with no hope of winning it an enticement enough to make such a huge change and we should aso remember that Barry is a player that doesn't flit from club to club.If he been played on a regular basis by City last season he would never have left.
