Old heads in tough situations and his legs keep going, not as fast as he was but he reads it so well

Arguably been our best player so far this season.

Would accept arguments for Jags, Stones, the hugely-improved Barkley and even Lukaku but Barry (after being the scapegoat last season) has been magnificent.

He made an error in the first half, again misplacing a pass that very nearly let them in. Made quite a few hit and hope 20 yard passes up to a red shirt when he didn't need to.

So how many games is that this he has contributed a very good performance? I'd say all but the City game, personally, and in that one we were playing against the most mobile and penetrating city to visit us in years.

Yet the Barry thread stays relatively quiet. Few posts here and there about him having a good game.

If he has a bad game or even an average one...no, scratch that, if we lose a game the masses will swarm this thread vehemently lambasting him.

It's a sorry state of affairs.

Thank God for @Dithering Dougie, @chicoazul and a few others whose names I can't remember even letters of to tag into this message which ironically no-one will read until Barry needs performance- assassinating.

I slaughtered Barry last season after thinking he was our most consistent player 2 seasons ago. Think he was one of our worst players last season though.

He's turned it around now and i'd say he's been in our top 3 performers so far this season. He was excellent yesterday.

I think the amount of games he played last year contributed to his poor form, plus probably a fully fit McCarthy next to him helps also
