Impossible to tell really, isn't it? Been to Brentford v Wolves a few weeks ago. Jake Bidwell was playing leftback for Brenford. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he supposed to be the next big thing coming through our academy at some point?

he was a decent prospect but never rated as next big thing. still only about 21, hopefully get a career in the premier league.

Think he was U21 captain for a while mate, and on the U21 player of the year (or player's player of the year). Think he was always considered a solid player in the Hibbert style rather than a big prospect. Garbutt as deemed the better of the two.

Spot on I've just had to check.
He's good for one shout from the club's Twitter account for positive contributions per match, both those are usually few and far between, and, more frequently, as a substitute. Roberto had high praise for him when he took the job, but mentioned he needed to find a position and make it his own. Difficult to do when you're always injured. Hopefully he can enjoy a healthy stretch over the second half of this season.

Think he was rated but perhaps not as high as Garbutt, and with Baines and Oviedo already here it was always going to be tough to break through. Glad he's making a career for himself though.
