It brought us back into a game that we were quite frankly second best in in most departments, it's not going to work every time but Martinez' subs have been excellent recently.

Bringing on Heitinga would have seen them go straight at us and possibly nick a 1 nil lead, that said I thought it was the type of game where Naismith could've caused a few problems, so hey ho.

This deulofeu though, he has got to score soon. I think he will start vs Palace which gives Mirallas a rest or a warning so he knows he has a competition. God knows what was wrong with Mirallas though on Sunday, he played shocking as did everyone else but he was just getting bullied

I was waiting for someone to mention stats. Having 4 assists and a goal doesn't excuse the fact how lacklustre he looked last week and how bright Deulofeu looked when coming on. Mirallas isn't having a bad season, just really isn't havin a good one. He was well off the pace last week and I think a week out may be just required.
 
I dont think we will the best of mirallas in a strict right wing position, he'd be more effective down the left or through the middle, its a tricky one, I'd like to see the spanish kid play, but mirallas is still getting assists, Barkley made a big difference coming on, and pienaar and baines still had their moments down the left. Its not just as simple as when Barkley should have been playing, we dont have someone as awful as osman to drop for him

Yes maybe but to say stats don't excuse lackluster? I'm not sure... The two most important stats for a winger are probably assists and goals.

Full of energy - making no real contribution
Or
Lackluster - making important assists and scoring goals

I know which I'd take "push came to shove"

Anyways, as said I think today allows for a Delefoe start over mirallas if RM see's fit. If we're struggling for a goal, a (hopefully) fired up Mirallass coming from the bench could be a brilliant option.

Yep. A part of 5 goals this season, despite not playing at his best. That's his job, service and goals, and he's up there stat wise with everybody else in the league this season.

If people want someone to run around lots and hustle and bustle with no end product, chuck Osman out on the wing.
