Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

he's only just come back from injury... and was starting just prior to his injury.

The game was over at the 75th minute. He didn't play until the 87th minute...Someone who does that doesn't sound like someone who wants him to stay another year.

He must be fuming.

Geeeeez. He's being slowly reintroduced to the team? Because he had a pretty bad hamstring injury? He's actually featured in alot of our games this season?

It's been two weeks since he's recovered fully from his injury. Has 13 apps and in 5 of them he played the last 3 minutes. In 8 games he's played over 10 min. In 5 games he's played over 20 minutes.

Barkley who's coming from injury has started two games and played 150 min, meanwhile Deulofeu has played 20 minutes.

One thing is being patient, another thing is being dumb.

Next game at the Bridge he's not starting either and in the cup against Liverpool/Arsenal he's also not starting.

And then Lukaku is coming back, and if he's the 3rd substitute now.....You bet.

Sorry but this is ridiculous. He featured sparingly at the start because were playing a very new system to our entire team and he definitely wasn't ready.

When he was ready he came into the team More and was getting involved and helping us out. He started some games and unfortunately or injured keeping him out during a period in which every everton fan knew he would have thrived in for us.

He's back now and yea only got 3 minutes today, but we were 3-1 up and Have an important game against Chelsea coming up. Any hamstring takes time to heal and is very temperamental so I am not worried, very confident he will feature more for us as the season goes on.

Also, with Barkley... He was influential to our team early in the season in a position we are lacking. As a result he was being played and was effective, but right now he's off form.

Edit: also Naismith and osman have been quality from the bench this season, we scored 2 after they came on and the substitutions cannot be discredited. Gerard isn't a 3rd choice sub, it's entirely situational

You talk like there's a lot of games left or something. There's 12 games left `+ FA Cup. Can you say confidently that he's going to start more than 2 games of those 12 games?

Good thing for him it's that he's learned to start always on the bench and never complain.

It depends on how well he plays. He'll be a substitute for say 2 more games in a row now, if he does well enough or we pick up an injury he'll be straight into our starting eleven. Mcgeady isn't fit enough anyway.

He'll start a minimum of 5 IMO, but appear in a minimum of 10 more games.

He's playing for a team competing for 4th and the FA cup and has contributed well individually. He's improved defensively and with his decision making since his first 3 apps. This is good for him. Miles better than playing against crap opposition for a low tier la liga team.

It's really great that he's here with us, but Martinez does what's best for the team at the moment. Players playing in Deulofeu's positions: Mirallas and Pienaar are definitely more experience and have more match fitness than him. Can't expect us to pander to the will of Barcelona, especially when there have been many factors regarding his playtime (hamstring injury, recuperating in Barcelona) that were outside of our control.

Yes he improves the quality of the squad, and like above i'm sure he's going to be featuring more and more, so just chill out.

I thought a big part of him coming to Everton was to a) work on the mental side of his game, b) mature him as a person, c) give him time in another environment.

You could easily argue that too many youngsters think they have made it too young and get ahead of themselves. I'm sure Gerard will have learned a lot just from being here, purely through being in a different environment to the one he's spent his entire life in.

Chill out, he's clearly an outstanding attacking talent. Martinez said the other day that Deulofeu is ready to be an important player for us. We just want him fully match fit before playing him for 90 mins, its a gradual process coming back from an injury (unless you take pain killing injections like Barkley's been doing)

All of that is great and I think it's a experience that can help him. But he's 19 and he's raw, he needs playing time.

Of course, but he also needs it in a range of circumstances. Getting game time in a team that steam rolls opponents as Barca often do will be of less value to him than minutes for us where we have to work for points. Lets wait and see how he does for the rest of the season.

Not talking about starting a game, I'm talking about this game. The game was over when Baines scored the pen, why he didn't get in then? There were 15 minutes left, instead he played 3 minutes. And to regain some fitness, he needs to play some minutes..Especially if a game is over. That threw me completely off.

People under estimate Pienaar's importance, his little flicks and tricks and dribbles and the way he keeps possession are vital to the way we play. More so than Mirallas.
